Is there a reason for casuals to really play anymore

I used to say I didn’t raid after Wrath due to time limitations. Now that I’m retired I think about the effort to get AOTC and the ratio of effort to fun is just way too low for me. Please note the “for me” part of this.

I find leveling alts, farming achievements, pets, mounts, sight seeing in old raids and dungeons to be very enjoyable. I’m a tourist who spends as much time in the gift shop as looking at the view and I’m having fun. No annoying people to deal with, no schedules, no agendas other than my own.

I’m patient and know that because of this I won’t see the raids until the end of SL or even later depending Blizz’s solo nerfing schedule. No hurry, no problem. I’ve just finished all but two of the class halls, including the mounts, as I’ve been able to solo all the content now. Some folks like the white knuckle challenge in the game, whereas I get all the heart racing stuff I need doing my taxes. I’m in the game to relax and enjoy this ongoing novel in my head.

I main feral druid. I get accepted.
I’m casual, so I play what I have fun playing, not what is meta. I started some M+ some weeks ago and I always find a group.

Actually it is.

Yes. If you enjoy the game you should play it. If you don’t you should quit. It’s a simple concept really.

There is no singular definition of “casual”, op.

The question you need to ask yourself is if there is a reason for you to play.

I’m casual (now). Been at this since opening day. This game has everything I want and more. I think the biggest issue with this game and, let’s be honest, any game out there is that people want to be able to compete at the top with only half the effort. Sadly this is also the case in RL but that’s for another post.

This game can be whatever you make it. It has something for everyone but it doesn’t have everything for those only willing to commit half way to it. Every single time I log in there’s a hundred things I want to do. This is on a single character. If I wanted to do all the things with all the characters, I could play this game nonstop for years to come.

While I only have somewhere around 500 days /played on all my characters, which I’m sure is nothing compared to some people, I still have plenty I want to accomplish in the game.

More time consuming?

I can literally log in one day a week, for 15 minutes, and get raid quality gear.

Is 15 minutes too long, should it be 14?

Edit: As a follow up, my latest stumbling block is what to do next. Do I finish leveling all my classes to 120 (I have them all at 100 minimum, some at 110) before Shadowlands, do I keep working on rep on this guy, do I start collecting transmogs on my other characters (the different armor types), do I work on leveling a Maghar Orc and do the Heirloom armor, work on rep for the classes that I already leveled for their Heirloom armor?

So much to do!

I am casual.

I still have fun.

I suppose then yes, there is a reason for casuals to play.

As a casual you can still farm gushing wounds and melt people in pvp

It’s easier to pug into a normal or just find a guild that runs that. I’m sure guilds liek that exist on any server…

This is a Mmorpg meaning you got to put fourth work to be rewarded and progress your character. If they simplify this game any more or remove anymore stats Idk what would be different from this and The Sims.

They need to keep the Rpg progression element relevant so people have something to work towards and over all stay true to being a Mmorpg.

However if you’re looking for less work to achieve or quicker gameplay there are plenty of games where you log in and play as a preset character like League of Legends.

Edit - I also feel Blizzard is trying to create a new environment for everyone for the future updates to come and future xpacks. I mean some games for the level cap will label them Paragon levels etc which Idk if that’s the answer for WoW. The level squish could be nice and possibly getting use to so new Lower damage yet big crits flying around on the screen.

I also believe Blizzard needs to put more work into the guild system and expand onto it as well find a way to be able to bring back Wpvp world defense alerts to promote or encourage people to run around Azeroth again.

I think I play casually and I’m having a blast. Sure there’s a large gap from new 120s and 120s with 100 hours in but isn’t that better? I know I’d be bored if after one day I was able to clear any content I wanted. I think if you know what you’re doing you can get pretty far off just 10 hours a week.

Now if your issue is that you mean casual to be sub 3 hours a week or something I don’t know think that’s a blizzard problem I think you might just be going for the wrong game. Assuming you don’t want cutting edge or M+15s you can clear content without ever reading a guide. Long as you read your skillbook and the dungeon guides

I agree with this. I’m the filthiest of casuals, and I have plenty to do that I enjoy and gives me some character growth. I agree that LFR needs to be cleaned up just a little, there is no reason M0 dungeons shouldn’t be in the LFD and a gearing system like Benthic/VP/JP/Emblems would be nice. But visions are OK, and hopefully Torghast will be similarly rewarding. The one thing that needs to DIAF is Pathfinder though. It is the one thing that will prevent me from playing Shadowlands. :hear_no_evil::speak_no_evil::see_no_evil:

I am as casual as they come.

I have done only one LFR to unlock an AR. Other than that I do not raid. I have never done a dungeon, on level, that was above normal difficulty. I play when I want to and how I want to. I do not min/max, I mostly go for the ‘low hanging fruit’. Didn’t play regularly enough for Titan Forging to matter. Mostly vendor Corrupt items.

My ilvl is over 440.

This is one of the most casual friendly games in existence.

As anyone can see by my achievements, I am very casual. I can still usually find things to do that I enjoy.

It all depends. I tend to find alt leveling an goal orientated objectives to be more up my ally. Depending on how grindy endgame content is I either do it or I don’t. BFA is honestly terrible endgame that either requires too much out of me or is boring as sin. I’m also the kind of player who doesn’t buy packaged subscriptions because I take a lot of time off. Wow gets boring to me all the time. So I’m not the player they would want feedback in that regard because I haven’t played for more than two months straight since I was in high school like 15 years ago. I don’t have time waiting on queues or doing mythics. I just don’t and LFR puts me to sleep because it’s so boring.

I do understand your point of view, I even give it a like, but to be honest the game has been more casual player them ever before.
That does not mean they cant keep doing more stuff, improving and etc.
I think we are in the right direction.

And that is the problem because as an “undergeared” casual unless you have a guild willing to take you there is little hope you’ll pug into normal raids. Or the appropriate M+. :see_no_evil::speak_no_evil::hear_no_evil:

Mythic plus is impossible for me this point. I’m so turned off of BFA and all the prerequisites I would have to do just to get denied anyone unless I had a guild to help me is crap. It’s easier to just ignore it and move on.
