Is there a guarantee that 100% of the Dottie pet will be given to charity?

Seeing how the prize pool deception or “legalize” was revealed right before Blizzcon, can we have a 100% guarantee if we donate money every single penny will be given to Make-A-Wish and WE? A single customer service blue post saying so, is not really legally binding.

It is also troublesome that if more than 3 Million is raised, blizzard keeps it.

Would it have been a problem if Blizzard didn’t do this for charity and kept 100% of the profits?

You’re complaining that Blizzard is ONLY giving up to $3 in charity.

smh

No, the problem is we have no guarantee they will give all the money to charity and if they raise 4M, they get to pocket 1M under the claim we are helping charity.

Having a running total would be great, so when it got to 3M, people then knew they were giving it not to a charity but to Blizzard.

All of it should go, not a maximum.

There may be some legal shenanigans about false advertising and such. That aside, donating to charity helps them cut their tax burden. That’s part of the way Amazon avoids paying taxes.

Did you create the pet or the plush toy? If not, then why do you get to assign how much of it goes to charity???

Did we really need another thread about this? Blizzard were clear as day about the pet and plush toy so there’s nothign really insidious going on. As for the alleged e-sports bit, they were clear about this as well but it got distorted and is still taken out of context [thanks games “journalism”… >_>]

Idk, but there is a 100% chance we’ll get yet another one of these threads.

Its extremely unethical, however legal.

You know the conditions (the 3 mil cap) ahead of time. They are very clear about that.

If you do not want to participate, that is your choice.

If you don’t like it don’t donate. It appears they are pretty clear about things, not sure why some people find it ‘confusing’.

There wasn’t any prize pool deception. You failing to understand something that was clearly stated does not mean deception. Stop deceiving yourself.

Because some people just wants to feel like they are getting deceived so they can complain and feel almighty like they are some sort of moral crusaders etc.

Maybe oneday blizzard wont be scrutinized when they do something good for the community.

I mean how dare they donate 3 million of their profits to a charity supporting sick children!

I swear this community is just ridiculous.

It is very tiresome though.

Because they weren’t clear about that from the start.

Are you sure ? The first thread on this people were quoting how much went to charity.

They didn’t back when they announced them at blizzcon.

Really what exactly did they say at blizzcon, I don’t recall them mentioning this pet in any detail. Maybe you can provide a link to what they said then as well.

Why does it matter if 1% or 100% will go to charity? You buy the pet because you want the pet. Be happy that any of it is going to a good place. You would be paying solely Blizzard for this otherwise.

Want to make sure 100% of what you donate is going to charity? It doesn’t have to be connected to WoW you know. You don’t need a reward for a good deed.

exactly this. people can directly donate to Make-a-wish foundation. but it seems they want some free in-game stuff as well from donating lolz

like one poster said. Blizz like any other company is also doing this because of the tax breaks they will get.
