As I said in a previous post, my husband and I got laid off for 2 months and are back… it has actually been 5 years since we left (time flies). Starting at lvl 1 some time today.
Anyhoo, been reading random posts up to like 30 pages deep, to try and learn as much as we can before we dive head-first, and I have never seen so many angry and upset people commenting here on the state of the game. Maybe it has been going on a while but it is actually making us question returning. I get not everyone has the same experience but truly have never seen so many anger and “I quit” threads.
Wow will be a time sink for us as we literally have nothing else going on, but reading 40+ posts on their hatred and anger for the game now it has us concerned if putting in the time will be rewarding and fun. Ignorance may be bliss here for us as we weren’t around for the last 2-3 expansions.
So anyway, still waiting for our RaF account to be approved. Been “Pending” for 8 hours. Just was pretty blown away at all the anger… maybe it’s par for course, who knows.
There are plenty who still enjoy the game. The forums have been grim for a while now, partly due to the revamp and people who genuinely left are now able to post/troll.
There is a lot more to do at end game now, and really with all the time off it’s a lot more attainable, plus Blizzard is giving us bonus xp til April 20th and that will help you with leveling a lot! I do hope you do enjoy it.
I recently came back. While there are plenty things I am not a fan of (Corruption stat for example) overall I think 8.3 is better than 8.2. I really disliked the new zones that 8.2 brought though. Being stuck at home Wow is a ok place to be.
Aye, ignore the forums. They’re always salty about something. If you’ve been gone for five years then you have lots of new things to explore and a lot of time to do it. The game is not as bad as it’s portrayed as here. So you’ll be fine, hope you have fun!
Thanks for replies. Now pertaining to what I quoted, no idea what any of that is. Also want to know what keys are as I read a lot about those. Is there a site that will break down all these newish things so the new player can understand?
Azerite. Essences. Corruption. Keys. M+. etc. I need like an “I’m stupid so please explain these to me” site.
Dont mind the forums. Most of the people enjoying WoW are not on the forums. Just play the game.
What I can say is that BFA is not alt-friendly. It still helps alts but not really to an extent where you could get free stuffs. Most whiners here are upset becoz they are trying to level an army of alts and expect them to perform like their main. To save frustration on you, dont expect easy leveling on alts.
Totally subjective. Some are enjoying WoW and others aren’t.
I personally don’t like the pruned classes and the lack of fun I feel when playing them. I play games for fun and right not I don’t find WoW all that fun.
I also don’t like the talent trees, the old glyph removal, the Legion weapon skill removal, the inability to pick AZ traits from the collective pool, among a bunch of other things. The many little things add up to one big thing over time and that is what WoW has become for me.
Only reason I’m subbed this month is because of free transmog from Trial of Style and the free PvP badges, whatever they’re called, from the upcoming Comp Stomp. Plus I’ll be able to get the first part of the event next month before sub is up and I’m off till I need something else only offered on rare occasions.
5 years? If you played during WoD, it’s mostly the same but with more emphasis on Diablo’s random loot system. They added a once a week loot crate. No more Kadgar every 5 mins.
BFA is pretty bad, abandoned systems all over, terrible story and lackluster raid gear (We gave up tier sets for this?). But forums have always been gloom and doom no matter what expansion.
You will probably be fine joining in the last patch, though if you want any of the rewards/gear from earlier patches you may find it a pain due to rep grinds and such. I think the game is in a worse state compared to when you left it in terms of gameplay being fun, but I don’t think it’s quite “into the garbage” yet. The game still has its merits even during a downturn. Shadowlands will make or break for many.
