Most people are upset because of the changes made from Legion. If you’ve been gone for 5 years you’ll enjoy the current iteration and you wont know what you’ve been missing. People are upset because Legion was better and they did nothing to improve upon those systems.
Eh, up to BFA it was actually pretty nice, Not that BFA wasn’t for certain aspects (like new armor models desperately needed after like 90 pairs of the same looking boots, Drustvar and the 8.3 N’zoth stuff really nailed the atmospheric evil concept, etc) but it did muddle some stuff beyond repair and broke as much as it fixed, so much so that with many of it’s additions I just prefer to avoid giving myself a logical migraine thinking on it. Also ouch never quite been “laid off” myself, but I’ve quit enough jobs from dismally dysfunctional management to know that the months it takes to reach financial security again is never without agony. Hope you are both recovering well.
It’s not as bad as some of the loudest voices claim, but it’s not nearly as “fine” as many of the ardent defenders will angrily insist. There are many very valid and genuinely-expressed complaints that get lost in the insult-fests that so many threads become.
And there are many, many trolls just fanning flames and starting infernos.
Much of the current state of things a consequence of accumulated frustrations over many years. If you’re returning to the game after 5 years away you can probably invest quite a bit of time into the game before you start running up against the issues from which that frustration springs.
An entertaining cesspool though!
So does blizzard read these forums and make changes based on forum feedback or is it just a place for members to vent/praise/question?
Only awhile?
I don’t like BfA really to be honest but there’s lots of stuff to do. Compare wow’s message board activity to terrible games like FF or ESO and that tells you which is better.
God I hope not.
Ion allegedly reads the forums thoroughly.
And then discounts every criticism and suggestion, while doubling down on things people hate.
This pretty much says it all. Ppl thrive on negativity, which drowns out the positive.
Welcome back to you and your wife, OP!!! ![]()

Hopefully in SL Blizzard realizes the “do chores then log off” just doesn’t work. What are you supposed to do after doing the chores, spam M+? Uhm lol.
Give the game something to stay logged into.
I had a kid right after BFA started and I just came back for something to do while everything is shut down. I’ll concur that BFA isn’t very alt friendly -if- you don’t want to go through all the quest lines again. There some rough rep grinds that take a couple months etc, but they’re for convenience more than need.
However, I will say that the storylines in BFA are pretty good. I honestly loved Drustvar, possibly my favorite zone ever. I was Hoping for a blighted lands mini raid. So, if you’re coming back to play just for fun and want to play through the story, it’s quite good. If you want to jump into heroic / mythic raiding … there’s a significant grind to get to where you really need to be and you have to do it on all your characters.
