Is the new spell density working?

I’ve changed it and didn’t notice any difference at all. I tried it on the world boss, and it seems like the same old spell density we had in 11.0 and 11.1.

My friends tried it too, same result.

Is it just not working, or is this “new” spell density basically the same as the old one?

Were you in the group with the other players? It only works with party/raid members apparently and might even only work in instances. I left feedback on the PTR that the scope of this new addition was very poorly managed… but it could also be bugged.

I totally forgot about it because I was so underwhelmed by how limited it was on the PTR and the feedback was seemingly ignored that it should affect everyone everywhere based on your settings and not just restricted to in party/raid

If its not working in outdoor content either when in a raid that is even more lame than I originally thought. Hope its just a bug.

Yes, on both occasions I was in a party and didn’t notice any difference at all.

For example, it didn’t matter which option I selected, I could still see a Death Knight’s Defile and a Frost Mage’s Frozen Orb, which are spells that absolutely don’t need to be visible.

I really hope this is just a bug and that we eventually get an actual option to control this. I wouldn’t even mind if it only worked in party or raid, as long as it actually works.

This needs more attention because it is definitely not working.

I’ve seen probably every single spell in every raid and dungeon i’ve done since patch. The old version used to sort of work if you were dropping in performance, but now nothing. I lose about 40-50 frames at the start of Heroic Nexus King

Honestly, I didn’t notice any difference either. I still see spells that I’m not interested in seeing, such as Lightning Bolt, Cobra Shot, Spinning Crane Kick (this one can interfere with the visualization of ground mechanics), among others.

Yeah the spammable spells should DEFINITELY not be visible at all, and yet I see all types of projectiles all the time

We’ve identified a bug with this new function, and we’re developing a fix for it.

We’ll include the fix in our Hotfixes Update when it goes live.

As of 31st August 2025 this settings appears to MUTE THE SOUND of all other player’s spells in raid while they still show visually. Was very disorienting today when I couldn’t hear any spells but my own in raid and eventually figured it was this GRAPHICS setting lol…

Do we know when this fix will go live. I honestly was very happy to finally play melee without the visual clutter :-/

The fix for this was implemented on Wednesday, September 3.

I noticed on Wednesday I was able to do the world boss outside Dorn with about 30 people and keep 115 fps. Every LFR, normal and heroic raid with 25 ish people is still 50-60 fps just as it was the week before and the week before that. Rash in Karesh is still terrible with lag.

Whatever the change or fix was, it still feels the same. If we see less clutter, I was hoping it would fix fps issues with anything over 10 people. What’s the point of a world boss if everyone slogs around at 30 fps.

This feature is either bugged or we would need more explanation.

I can still see the ground effect AOE of players, like shaman, pal rets and DK death and decay.

I thought all the other players AOE spell effects will not be shown.

What spells cannot be hidden?

This is a lie. It’s still not working nor is it mentioned anywhere in the 9/4 hotfix notes.

Just joined a 30-man group for Reshanor.
There was no visual or FPS difference between setting it to Essential or Everything.
