Is the new spell density working?

Why can’t WoW identify slowness dynamically and then reduce level of detail for spells proactively when the FPS drops?

Also when reducing spell density the client should prioritize to reduce DPS spells of allies first before doing the same for heal spells. It is important for most players to position inside of AOE heals, so keeping good visibility of these up would be preferred.

Is there any reason we never got this mentioned in the hotfix updates, even though you said we would? It’s just very strange that one of the biggest UI updates in 11.2 launched bugged, and the only response we had about it was yours, almost a month after the patch. Then it supposedly got fixed without a single word being said. Why? The communication regarding this new tool has been terrible.

Also, I’m not sure if it’s the same command, but the console command for spellVisualDensityFilterSetting is still resetting after every loading screen.

I just don’t understand why we can’t have something more modern and polished for this tool. Every player would be happy to cut 80% of the unnecessary clutter and leave only the healers’ effects. Or, going even further (though that would be practically impossible given how Blizzard works), let players choose which skills they want to see.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but at this point everything related to this tool just feels pathetic.

Can confirm this is still happening as of 18 September 2025, so the “fix” fixed nothing.

unfortunately it does not seem to work.

Wait so it’s ‘fixed’…? I didn’t even notice after all this time, why do I keep seeing every consecration then? Remorseless winter? Basically every single AoE and projectile in the game? That’s wild

I haven’t noticed any difference either.

I guess they forgot about this

Any actual update on this? It doesn’t appear to be working on retail, and in classic it shows “Custom” with a dropdown for 3 options, but all are blank.

There does not appear to be any visual change between settings as of the reported hotfix in early September. This can easily be duplicated by swapping between Essential and Everything while in an encounter — there is no observable difference.

I am once again asking for some communication about what exactly this is supposed to do… maybe we misunderstood? I was under the impression that other players’ spell effects would be greatly minimized, if not gone entirely. I was really looking forward to this feature. It’s really an accessibility issue, and unfortunate that it seems to have been forgotten.

This has certainly been my experience with Remix. The glitter storm goes on unabated regardless how I set my graphic options. And I had, until recent patches of WoW, thought FFxiv was the end all be all never ending laser show of unnecessary glitter bombs.

No, it’s still broken. Tell your engineering team to keep looking. The problem is apparent to everyone that raids MFO regularly. It makes me doubt anyone is playing the game

Do we have any update on this?
