Is the new ranking system popular or hated?

Hey there, I haven’t played Classic Era since it was the main game, but I’m starting here again. I quit Wrath back in Feb, didn’t like it as much as I thought I would.

I’m curious how the Era OGs feel about the new ranking system.

Generally well received, or generally hated?

It’s one of the most liked changes I’ve seen.

A lot of people like that they can do the grind solo without having to work with anyone else and they also like that they can take breaks between ranks, that’s what I’ve noticed anyway.

I think there will still be complaints when people find the higher caps hard to reach especially if they are sitting in queues and end up going against premades as solo players. Getting to the higher caps will be time-consuming still.

I’m not an Era OG though but I am a release WoW and release Classic player. I am glad I got to experience the old system in full and the sometimes total craziness of it in Classic (and much earlier in Vanilla).

Things I wouldn’t have been a fan of would have been currency and stopping premading. So I can accept this change although I’m not a fan of changes to Era.

Yep! It’s extremely well thought out and addresses all of the concerns that people had about ranking in SoM, without necessarily making it “easy” to rank.

750K cap is higher than people on my classic server/faction (Kromcrush Alliance) needed for the top bracket.

So amazing. One of the best changes ever made to a game. 10/10

A+ would recommend again.

It should be a good change, although I’m sure some who invested a lot of time into the old R14 and controlling the premades/brackets aren’t fans.

I think the classic team should be commended that they took the effort to keep the role playing aspect of ranking in your faction military and not going with just accumulating honor points and buying gear.

Yeah, I commend them for keeping the ranks. I would have REALLY not liked it if they did currency after seeing the complete trainwreck of TBCC battlegrounds after it changed over there.

I might even try to rank up!

Of course, they release this crap right when the semester starts…

You should do what I’m going to do and retire.

(And not tell your wife about it.)

Well, it’s not like it’s your first time retiring.

It’s certainly generally welcomed. Only ones who have qualms are purists who rebuke any kind of deviation from an exact carbon copy of Vanilla.

While some ideas aren’t well received, this one is fair. It’s an iteration of the game from 2004 and not everything needs to be a 1:1 translation from then.

I welcome the change.

The nochanges guy in me says its fine, leave it alone. I always thought decay was lame though.

The realist in me after having run through bracketmafiaville says its a nice change and should prove to be pretty popular which is a good thing.

It’s a good change and will get me to rank again on my new char

Is it confirmed 750k is the cap or is that just what the PTR was set at?

I think 750k is the perfect amount tbh. And agree with the rest, they did an absolutely amazing job with this ranking system.

I’m pretty good at making friends with people who have a hard time quitting things.

Its a decent change because in phase 6 PVP gear is catch up gear, and late game ranking is a meme.

However its a change that wasnt asked for. While simple QoL changes that were actually asked for, and entirely ignored such as things stacking in higher amounts, direct flight paths, increased herb/mining spawns, crafting times reduced, buffs not being dispellable. The list goes on I’m sure.

Was kind of a weird priority if you ask me.
