The Light is not Christianity. No one is attacking you.
Perhaps.
But the actual manifestations of the Light and Void are the Naaru and the Old Gods. I don’t think anybody can look at the Old Gods and say: “yeah, those are some good deities who want to help out.”
I think the use of “righteousness” as an aspect of the Light is interesting. Evil people can wield the belief that their cause is righteous, even when it’s not.
Benedictus was able to wield the Light to an insane degree with the belief that there is only power and that the Old Gods are Azeroth’s true masters.
A Card Carrying Villain who wields the conviction that Light serves Evilness will have great mastery over the Light. They could probably create Evil Light Elementals who revel in their Evilness.
Light embodies the Conviction to Wield it while Void embodies drawing from the Void from Doubt and Darkness(the power that Sylvanas drew upon) embodies Cold Apathy.
The Cosmic Realms of Death have multiple aspects: Bastion’s Death Magic embodies Virtue, Revendreth’s Death Magic embodies Sin, Ardenweald’s Death Magic embodies Rebirth, the Mawsworn’s Rainbow Death Magic embodies Pain and Maldraxxus’s Death Magic embodies Death itself.
Life also has multiple Aspects: Life as Ruby Fire, Life as Dreams, Life as Plants, Life as Blood and Life as the Moon.
Decay has Aspects too: Fungus, Rot, Venom and Poison.
Disorder has Aspects: Hunger, Nature, Green Fire, Wind, Green Lightning and(in the case of the Warp Energies extracted out of the skies of the Netherstorm) Destruction.
Order’s Aspects are: Purple Crystals(the usual form of Arcane Magic in Azeroth even if it is in Energy Form most of the time), Electricity, the Golden Arcane Energy and Holy Yellow Order.
Or maybe we should go the Pathfinder route and ditch such concepts of “good and evil” in favor of edicts and anathema.
I don’t mind either approach. What I mind is switching approaches midstream.
Especially when it’s done in such a sloppy manner. For example, they should give us a new villain group and finally retire the Scarlet Crusade, or they never should’ve killed off Xe’ra if they wanted to use her as a future threat.
The Scarlet Crusade is too popular a villain to completely let go of. A lot of players love collecting their gear as transmogs.
Xe’ra…aside from people who keep bringing her up in this forum… is a footnote.
My point was that Blizzard used them poorly. The Scarlet Crusade are stale and if Xe’ra’s a footnote, why allude to her in BfA?
I don’t recall that she was.
Several fans rabid for a Light villain arc (including big WoW commentators like Bellular) think the “Light Mother” in Yrel’s “Sermon of the High Exarch” is her.
Is this a reply to me? I dont think anyone has said it was?
I take all Youtube commentators but especially those who speculate on WOW with a huge heaping of sodium chloride.
Dude Kirkbride rocks, his writing is the reason why Morrowind was so good. You’ve just got horrible takes about every piece of media.
How can you be mad about him killing orcs in the second war and in the beyond the dark portal stuff? Genuinely. How can you make a moral argument against that.
Orcs did nothing wrong. To hell with Thrall and his peace politics.
He consumed mushrooms and wrote awful stuff that was instantly retconned in Skyrim.
Because he thinks monster races can do no wrong. He believes absolutely anything the traditional Horde races do is good, unless it’s also beneficial for the Alliance and then it’s bad. If an orc killed a random human child, he’d side with the orc.
You do understand that he’s just trolling because the buttons are so easy to push? Why else do you think he posts behind an alt that never progressed beyond the starter areas?
When was this interview, though? Was it before or after they started reworking the cosmology?
I don’t really care if he’s trolling. The energy he puts into it still makes him just as bad as someone who unironically believes what he’s saying. It’s the classic "Jokes on them, I was only pretending " meme.
