Is the Game Population Dropping Fast?

Well, since if seems most of these complaints come from players that have never stepped foot in mythic raiding, can’t complete 15 keys and don’t pvp… yes it kinda does.

not really. it’s more based on the difficulty of content you do… if you’re a casual player who only does world quests, group finder dungeons, LFR raid, unrated pvp content, etc you may get some renown… However if you do M+ keys Heroic Raid, rated pvp, etc you get renown much faster.

Sure, the same is true in WoW until you reach end game. I found my experience so far in FFXIV to have far more dungeons and content in the leveling experience though. I also found the kill and collect quests to be far more reasonable than WoW.

To each their own, but yeah idunno if basing your opinion of FFXIV on ARR leveling experience or even any part of the leveling experience is wise. I’m not the one who is missing out on the better game though! I play them both as I please, I happen to not play WoW currently. I only subbed to post on the forums because I hope that this game gets the fixes it deserves. It would be nice to feel like I’m not being preyed upon while playing WoW. Having that experience while I play FFXIV has really opened my eyes to how good gaming can feel when it’s not predatory, and it’s really difficult to go back after experiencing healthy game design.

its not cost effective to fix it right, after years of min effort the amount of work to truly fix this mess (and i say that as i still play and roughly enjoy my time spent) would just take to much money and resources in the short term with no promise of paying off.

I’ve very rarely ran all over Azeroth delivering messages and playing phone with npcs. When my character in WoW goes to a new city/quest hub they usually ask my character to actually do something that requires the use of my abilities. They aren’t an overglorified postal worker.

I’m not renewing this weekend. I finished up most of the stuff I wanted to do and there isn’t enough right now to keep me playing. And that’s ok. I don’t like staying subbed perpetually.

It’s made that way intentionally lol. It isn’t what the game is all about, it’s just the way they decided to make the leveling process and a lot of the questing. There are tons of optional quests you can do that are both like that and not like that.

For you, it’s not your cup of tea. For someone who likes visual novels and cut scenes, it is an amazing aspect of the game. Personally I like it, it’s been very relaxing and nice. The game has everything else in it though, so I’m not sure why you keep fixating on this one little thing. You work for blizzard?

edit: Also it’s kinda lame how little our characters are involved in stuff aside from killing/gathering in WoW. It’s like we’re just low iq drones.

Do you expect to get a piece of usable gear / upgrade every time you run a dungeon? That’s never how the game worked, in its entire history, but people seem to keep saying it is such a problem right now.

The population is absolutely dropping my server is considered high but no one’s on my friends list no one’s in my guild no one’s in the zones I’m leveling alts in now I do suppose it can be because of phasing I usually don’t have much of an issue looking for a key or finding a dungeon in dungeon finder on my alts but that being said everybody on these forums seem to say the expansion horrible and I tend to agree I didn’t think BFA is half as bad as people are making it seem at least it was fun and engaging I logged on every day and had a good time I can barely keep myself logged on long enough to do anything during this expansion so far. everyone that seems to have a positive review of this expansion is a PVP person in which I am not so maybe that’s my complaint

this is a normal time for player counts to drop, the new expansion hype and new raid hype are dying down as many people have accomplished what they were looking to accomplish and are simply taking a break from burnout or waiting for new content.

The answer is yes, it is dropping and quite substantially.

The number of Mythic+ groups is vastly less than just 2 weeks ago (horde side), arena skirmish queues are taking 2 minutes (these were almost always instant), battleground queues are 10-12 minutes (these used to be 2-3 minutes), and even LFR queues for healers has increased quite a bit.

My friends list is also almost completely empty now. I laugh at people who use the server browser “population” to try and show that the game is still alive as ever when they have zero basis or understanding of what “full” or “high” population even means (what defines a full server? how many players? is it active players or players created?)

Why ofc it is, don’t you know the moment something happens that you personally don’t like, that the game is dead and dying? So yup. Blizz shut down the servers game’s dead!

Same, I feel like someone opened my brain and took the very words from my mouth. The game just doesn’t interest me anymore. I guess after many many years of the same game the magic has worn off?

But then again, I loved classic and I am hyped to the max for BC so I am realizing maybe it isn’t WoW itself, it is the modern version that doesn’t grind my gears. I love the feeling of community, and WoW has not had “community” in awhile. It is just a big esport wannabe game at this point. Every aspect is being turned into something for profit instead of just being a game. Im good. I will wait for the game that so many claim I will not like even though I played classic for nearly a year.

I play to alt. Making me do the MAW on every character past lvl 50 is painful.

Well tell me how they can justify increasing peoples subs then? Blizzard are digging themselves a HUGE HOLE they won’t be able to climb out off soon. Such a shame this game was AMAZING ONCE. It really makes me sad.

Except, I doubt that even the most hardcore of players have accomplished anything that they set out to accomplish.

Even top PvE streamers are buying BoEs for millions of gold and resorting to glad boosts in attempt to make up for loot scarcity, and do not have BiS in every slot yet.

Players interested in cosmetics cannot possibly have farmed up the hundreds of thousands of anima required for all the upgrades and rewards.

Many players are giving up on their goals on their mains, let alone trying to do anything similar on their alts. Solo/casual players who have kept up thus far have ZERO power progression at this point.

Blizzard has designed the expac so that you can’t meet your goals without playing for 8 hours a day, every day for months on end. Players who would have kept playing or started alts are realizing that the grind is just too meaningless.

So, let me get this straight. As a fresh 60 you really think someone can step into M+ keys with the IO and heroic raids? What about rated pvp, you really think a fresh 60 will be able to get close to 1k rating let alone 1800-2k rating needed to get decent vault stuff, with others running around with full pvp gear?

im not here to justify anything i fully expect them to do whatever they can to milk us for what they can till the game dies but thats just me i tend to expect the worst in most of my dealings

Good on ya man. No really. I don’t like what retail has become. It just strikes me that Blizzard would rather pump more money in to their store, than fixing the game breaking bugs, and issues that are making many pack up. My buddies are totally awol. They hit the M+ wall, and they haven’t come back. I’m now at the PvP ilvl 200ish wall, and I’m getting bored. I won’t go to SL anymore due to the traveling requirements.

When I was in Classic last year, I got to rank 10 on horde side, but left after that because our queue times were really bad. 2 - 3 hours bad for AV. :frowning: I did however have amazing world pvp with guildies. That was good. That was an amazing community. The Alliance made world pvp an absolute blast to fight with. I cannot thank the Allies enough for those epic epic matches. WOW. THAT … now that was community.

I don’t like the esport pay 2 win model WoW is under now. Bobby is bragging about his 40 million a year lifestyle while the game is poorly written, and support from this company seems null.

In German… we like to say, “Alles hat ein Ende, nur die Wurst hat zwei.”
