Is the Game Population Dropping Fast?

They won’t implement flying until additional zones are ready

Yep, that. I’ve decided I‘m done with Torghast because I hate doing it, I don’t really care enough about the covenant sanctum to farm anima but what I get from the WQ I actually enjoy doing is fine. I’m sick of the multiple currencies from every xpac that I can never really use up (honestly can’t everything just be gold?) I’m just farming gold to buy cool mounts at this point, and when I finally get bored with that I’ll probably unsubscribe unless the next patch blows my mind.

This 100%. Wow broke through the genre in 2004 because it was one of the first accessible mmos. Hardcore players can deny this all they want but its the reason it was successful on top of being a polished game. Well a lot has changed since 2004 in the gaming world and now WoW is seen again as not accessible compared to other online games.

If WoW is going to survive its going to have to make things way more interesting than time gated lottery grinds. If Blizzard did not have their reputation and the Warcraft universe behind this game, I am pretty sure their design philosophy would already be dead in the water. I dare any indy company to copy this design/gampleay mindset in 2021 and not fail badly.

They need to wake up imo.

I have two months left of sub and I’m not even playing.

Quite frankly, this expansion is the least satisfying experience I’ve ever had.

Things that need to be addressed but won’t:

-Faction Balance, Alliance is dead

-Class Balance, same OP classes are still OP

-Remove World Quests, replace with actual things to grind for and collect to then use for…

-Professions, these things are pointless

-The Maw, this place is awful in every way imaginable

-Torghast, just remove it already. I’ve wanted this type of content for a while, but this is just exhausting boredom. Feels like an AI designed it to make it, feels soulless

-Add solo queue for a rated BG experience, RBG groups take way too long to setup. I just want to be able to play with people who are competitive and not running around like an idiot not doing objectives. That’s literally all I care about. But Blizzard wants to tell me that solo queue isn’t what I want, they always seem to know best. (member when they fought the community for a rated mode in overwatch, then it ended up being their more popular mode? I member)

-Too many boring grinds, lookin at you Ember Court

-#PulltheRipcord. The covenant system is awful and extremely limiting. Whoever thought this was going to work long term is simply out of touch from the players. What if I want to switch specs? Guess I got to use this covenant ability that doesn’t mechanically function at all with my other spec then. I don’t care about min/maxing damage, I care about class funtion. Some covenant abilities just work too well with certain specs to ignore (Venthyr for Enh, Necro for Ele, for example). I can’t play Enh/Ele like I’ve always done with this system, I’m forced to stick to one.

-Alts are dead. Alts were my favorite thing about WoW, now I can’t even look at them. Playing alts just highlighted the awful, time gated, stagnant grind that is Shadowlands.

-Just end eSports already, they’re boring, no one cares about them, and they’re killing the game and casual play. I am a competitive player but I’m not joining guilds anymore and dedicating myself to not getting screwed by mechanics you need a perfect group in order to not wipe. I’ve never seen PUGs so horrible before, the entire game has become guild or die. I remember many years of wow of progressing my pvp gear set without even touching guilds.

It’s as if they don’t even know how we play their own game, after almost 20 years its like they still are trying to “figure it out”. Well, I’m not interested in waiting around for that time to finally come, all I gotta say is “see ya”.

I stopped playing right at the start of Onslaught. Onderon planet I think. Might level up my Jedi Knight Kyle Ka’tarn lol

I agree but also feel that not being showered in loot uncovers how shallow the game is.

They were never trying to “figure it out”. They were waiting and hoping that their customers would come around to what they the devs wanted.

It’s a MMORPG.

Making your numbers get bigger has always been one of the most important features that keeps people playing.

All MMORPGs are this shallow once you finish whatever silly stories they have.

And much like everything else in your post, you’re spot on here.

Let’s not forget the pointless minigames… had one in Bastion where it was a side view like Super Mario, and I had to fly horizontally while avoiding the spears on the top and bottom. That is where their attention is at here… it’s not balancing or what not… it’s on pointless side junk that really deviates from the game itself.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Super Mario, but it does NOT belong in WoW. Why not spend that dev time on parts of the game that actually matter, and not these pet projects that derail the immersion.

They are out of IDEAS and Content. So they do all this fluff. Lack of dedicated content in game is clearly visible.

Then BEST thing that can HAPPEN is for BLIZZARD to lay off all of the people and put wow on MAINTENANCE and the game will do much better. Just have classic-wrath release and get this Bleep show done with.

Wow will still generate revenue but with less OP Ex. Getting rid of some like ION and the BAD Design Team will net you in MILLIONS of savings. Keep the sub mode on and people will pay for life and they dont even need to upgrade servers and game engines.

It honestly feels this way sometimes. They know best and are upset when players don’t play ‘the right way’.

Pretty sure you are misinterpreting what is going on. How is it they are able to quantify completely different utility abilities as a dps value to compare with actual dps values?

Blizzard sets the number at which a server claims to be “full”. It is literally meaningless.

I have friends who have free playtime who quit after level 53. We were planning on playing together. Not happening, unfortunately.

If you think it’s meaningless that’s fine :man_shrugging:

I have people on other forums that tell me not to trust the CDC so I don’t expect everyone to trust Blizzard

I’ve seen worse, but I know that they can do better.

(Yes this is a Tortollan reference. That’s how bad SL is. I remembering helping turtles make it to the water fondly.)

I play a lot of realms. Several times I’ve seen all realms change overnight. They keep changing how they categorize a realm population. It is meaningless.

When I go to roll a new character on zul’jin I get a message saying there may be long queuetimes. The only time there has ever been a login queue was when there were technical issues, like once a year. Yet the server has gone from high to full in the past few years.
