I just watch a wow youtuber (https://youtu.be/xEaQ_fmzw_w?si=lMv4uDxepbB4pQ0i&t=529) to get the idea to post this.
Its feels like game is built too complex and not obvious enough what is 100% best (bis/best stats/best rotations). We all had to look up whats is or what to dispell/interrupt without something telling you. Even addons tell you what the boss does in every moment.
Its bad when being “good” requires outside resources. If the gets to the point that you NEED or WANT X to be “good” thats means the game the devs are not doing enough to make the X more obvious in-game. Its too much IMO. I never been huge on having combat addons because people lean on them too much. DBM for exp. It tells you everything thoughout an fight where it just becomes a dance where you looking at a screen telling you where to move. Its more fun actual learning the dance and be able to remember form your skill.
The bis and stats or gear in that matter. The game should be telling you whats good for you as learn your spec. I am not saying making it tell you off right but making it more obvious for people to learn.
The gear wise, going back to an classic feeling for stats and gear would fix some this healer wanting dps trinkets and tanks aiming to be tanker off gear. Not to 1:1 like classic but an mix of retail and classic. Where its easy to tell thats item is for X and we wont have massive pools of items to battle for though dungeons and raids. Most dungeons for someone needing something and the pool in one is 1 to 5-7 items. Its too much even trying to get an other role gear.
sorry for a little rant but the game is too complex on things that require something to be ‘good’ at it. Make it more obvious for the normal player blizz!

yes. it’s bloated and bloated some more.

Or you could just look at the boss and see what it’s doing.
I think people deliberately try and overcomplicate the game, like that. I don’t know why they do it.
“I have to go to a web site to find this out!” Or you could read the tooltip.

But it’s more important to have something to focus your anger on

While I agree with you, you also have to admit blizz is pisspoor with presenting said information. If they weren’t, such addons would never have needed to have been made in the first place

with how much ability overlap there is, sometimes it’s difficult to find ‘that black thing that hit you’ .

Yeah I think the stats could be better in wow. It used to be easier to understand but more or less now I just look it up. Better players than me put in a bunch of time to figure out all the numbers and stuff so it’s good for me to do that lol.
As for the trinkets… I feel they are sort of bad. Everybody uses the same ones. Lol
I focus all my anger on a cobweb in the corner of my room. I could easily remove it but being mad about it takes less energy.

what if those numbers more easier to understand, would it more fun to see it yourself and know your right about it?
yea trinkets are so bad

There are fewer secondary stats now (just 4) than there used to be.
Y’all are really reaching, here.

oh yea haste and crit is always good
and vers is too boring
mastery is hit or miss but meant to be something cool about your spec but never changed if its your worse stat
its not about the number of stats, its what they can effect your char to what they can do.
Instead of experiencing it yourself. Of course. Let’s parrot the streamers.

Yeah of course. I enjoyed playing with stats and builds in the past. The difference in how much dps/hps we did in the past didnt feel quite as drastic as it does today when you deviate from talent builds and such. For now it’s like shooting myself in the foot to choose what I like over what is good.

Thats my point. The game didnt really told you whats good back than and you were still fine doing any content you want without “needing” a build or X to have fun.
theres is a wow that builds that are fun and still be on pair to other can exist and have. the game is built too complex and go against the player not showing them that info they need.
the stats are easy to understand, the hard part is knowing which one is best for your given class/spec choice. also fights are poorly designed, theres a billion different insta wipe swirlies that blend in with the floor, covered by you and 19 other nerds and all of the class abilities going off

It’s simply the hallmark of a very old game, it’s been 20 years. POE1 has this issue too.
Compared to a relatively new game which has bare bones and basic system, it will of cos not look more appealing for ppl who fare well in more simplistic systems

So your issue is that top end content is no longer trivial?
Because trivial content is the only way “any build you want” works.

It’s just 20 years old.
Show me a 20-year-old live-service game that has continual updates, that isn’t bloated lol
Considering other games I’ve seen that are neglected to the point of death, WoW is still good in the fact it’s pretty playable.
Just requires a lot of research to navigate the bloat and overcome it.

The people with timers for their timers and weakauras for world content are going to tell you—never mind I see that they already are.
Classic had significantly more complexity in gear. In the sense of what gear was good for you, in any case.
Hit cap, all stats having a use outside of mainstat and stamina, etc.
