It seems like a waste of a global to me. I dont see good numbers and the details results are always less than dissapointing. Would it matter if i didnt use this ability?
Yes, you should be using Soul Reaper.
However, only if the target is below 35% hp.
Yes i read the tooltip. Thx. I guess what im asking is should it be used on cooldown or only if obliterate or frost strike isnt available? Where is it on the priority list?
Yeah, use it on cooldown in the execute range, prioritizing it more than frost strike or obliterate, even with killing machine procs
Pillar of Frost > Empower Rune Weapon if you have it > Remorseless Winter > Soul Reaper below 35% hp > howling blast with rime > obliterate with killing machine
This is not true.
Soul reaper should be used if you have 3 runes or more, and KM obliterate (at least for 2h) takes priority over SR.
Sorry, I didn’t specify which build I was talking about.
What I said is true for breath, what you said is true for obliteration
Soul reaper is a very small damage gain and only in pure single target execute, at the cost of being very annoying to play and taking away from the core rotation.
Soul reaper required spec-specific tuning to be even worth pressing every major patch in dragonflight. TWW will not be different unless soul reaper is changed.
I completely forget about SR on every fight except boss fights below 35% and even then I prioritize everything else first. I tried prioritizing it and noticed a dps loss actually – at least as oblit.
if the proc was 250% would it be more pleasing?
I think it’s only not worth pushing (while in execute window) specifically when maintaining Breath of Sindragosa, and that’s only because Obliterate is like the only rune spender worth using in those windows because 1 rune spenders will desync your rune regen. Every other time it’s an auto-press in the execute range, provided no other procs are up.
Basically it’s priority over filler for a marginal dps increase.
How much is it worth taking for UH? I typically always pick it up, but if its really not worth it I would rather just spend the point somewhere else.
The only time I ever press SR for FDK is when I have 4 or more runes or when ERW is active.
SR doesn’t benefit from any of Obliterate’s resource sustain like Frigid Executioner or proccing Rime so I find overprioritizing SR will desync my resources really badly.
so a follow up talent that does something for each of the specs would be nice
For Frost, KM Obliterate and Remorsless Winter are the only two spells that take prio over it. It’s better than unaugmented Obliterate, Frost Strike, or a Rime proc.
For UH, it beats out every other element of the core rotation on ST.
for the talent for blood that makes Soul reaper better it makes dancing potency better
or something else
for frost better chance for km and rime to happen
unholy bigger chance for double doom also makes abilities that create things and popping them happen more
Im 2h obliterate.
For DW Frost Strike is a higher priority. SR, even when it crits, doesn’t come close to Frost Strike damage.
If anyone has issues using it just drop it and pick something else utility based. Movement abilities can be a bigger DPS increase than SR.
I think it would be cool if SR was redesigned a bit, make it only useable <35% but it summons a Malthael-like soul reaper minion that puts a strong dot on your target. Too much Unholy themed to keep it in class tree tho?
Imagine a reaper like shadow above your target doing shadowfrost damage as it sucks away the hp.
I think it be really cool visually.
I hope that button gets tossed away and we forget it. There have been so many other useful abilities that got scrapped back a long time ago. I would love to see this really poor execute gone with the wind.
We just don’t need it. Give us dps back Gorefiend’s grasp or one the old DK presences changed to a CD instead of presence. I’d even take the old bone shield back for a passive damage increase like the old days. Just make Soul Reaper go away. Warriors have Execute. Leave it for them.
