Yeah, it’s cool that automated moderation will punish you for nonsense that people who abuse the flagging system don’t get punished for. lol
I do pity the people of GD, who haven’t seen the trolling and inflammatory levels of the PVP forums.
Maybe it isn’t a “short suspension”, could be you don’t see it because it is permanent, ID based and they are unable to.
I have only ever seen one post where someone admitted to being disciplined for abusing the report feature in game. Blizzard does take action when they are certain of the violation.
I feel that actual abuse is rare, thus complaints about getting disciplined for abusing is non-existent.
Not many people are going to come out and shame themselves, opening themselves up to ridicule and persecution by admitting publicly that they were rightfully disciplined.
Especially since doing so could net them more discipline for breaking the rules about discussing discipline.
We are all aware that the abuse can and does happen (as infinitesimal of a percent that it is), but Blizzard (by their policies) isn’t going to report to the masses that “Over the last month, 40,000 accounts on the forums were suspended for x,y, and z reasons.” (made up number)
Others have also pointed out that people are fundamentally lazy, they will flag and move on. Using alts to mass flag is too much work and far to easy for Blizzard to track to be worth the effort and risk.

No, they don’t. They are not actively punishing people for abusing the report system. People still openly laugh about abusing it and nothing is done.

I’m probably one of the biggest white knights and disliked people around here because of it and I can even see that nothing is being done about the abuse of the flagging system.
that shouldn’t be how it works. Other forum users don’t get to decide what is and isn’t allowed to be discussed here yet the flagging system lets groups of players dictate that in a way by repeatedly shutting down a thread every time it is unlocked.
They do, actually. Your post can be removed, along with action being taken against your account, if enough people flag it and deem it offensive. Blizzard mods will legit lock/hide your post or thread and you can catch a suspension. I speak from experience.
but in that case the mods agreed that it broke some rule. In many cases what we are seeing is the mods reviewing and determining it does not, removing the flags, and the thread getting flagged again until it is locked and has to be rereviewed

When you can post Blizzard’s internal data as proof, I will believe you.
Until then, it is all speculation by both of us.
I do trust Blizzard more on this than the opinion of an unimportant random forum dweller.

I’m not here to convince you, I don’t really care which side of the fence you’re on.
So I just had my post flagged and restored 4 times since I have created this topic. This OP is definitely proof that we have a serious issue with people abusing the report feature.

I’ve never once seen a single thread on someone being punished for abusing the flagging system there, I frequent that place too.

Nah, not really. It’ll just be pushed to the side soon and forgotten about, then nothing will be done about it. This has been a big complaint ever since this new forum was implemented. I wish it would have opened a huge can of worms but nah, it didn’t.

Yeah, those threads happen. The ones where people said something dumb and got punished. But I’ve yet to see a thread about someone being punished for abusing the flagging system, not one. If punishments were being handed out we’d have threads.
I noticed that too, I wasn’t making this post about my own personal experience being falsely flagged that led to my silence (it was about all the people who were wrongly accused in the past). However, I noticed people sure tried to make that the narrative though.
sucks when even blizz staff restores your post and its a back n forth fight of the ppl reflagging and staff restoring like any option that once its restore, remove a flag button from it completely?
