So Blizzard sent out emails telling people to return to S4 to get that sick Slime Cat mount. But I’m wondering, if you hadn’t played any or much of Shadowlands and had no friends playing it, and returned when those emails went out, would you even be able to get the requirements (ilvl, 4 piece through LFR, upgraded legendaries, etc) to even be able to get into Normal and finish all 3 Fated raids in time before they went away? No troll, I’ve seen multiple people post saying those are usually the requirements for inviting people into Normal, but I’m looking at the drop rates for some of these things like set pieces you can get through LFR each week and I’m wondering if it’s even mathematically possible to get geared enough to get into Normal Fated raids before the time limit ends since it’s what, a few months? Maybe?
What do you guys think?

How would you be geared enough to get into Normal as a returning player with no friends already playing?

Don’t take my word for it, but I’ve heard from others that Mythic+ is the go to for gearing up for raiding?

Can you get into M+ without already having an IO rating if you didn’t play Shadowlands and just came back to the game?

I think it’s doable with maybe skipping the first week or two to dedicate to gearing up.
Heroic dungeons are like 240ish ilvl now iirc and M0 is like 250ish?
It’s possible if you care enough
As with literally anything else
Probably. You just won’t be able to start with +15s
M+ can easily get a plethora of gear. If someone truly wants the mount they could easily get it from normal. You just doo m+ get gear there and cosmic flux from workd events and what not, build your teir set and there ye goo really.

You can use the creation catalyst to turn head/shoulders/chest/legs/hands into a tier set with the creation catalyst. Don’t need to run LFR Sepulcher specifically.

Basically you need to spend a reasonably large amount of time gearing up and then catching the runs later on.
M+ and having AotC will be your best bet to get a respectable ilvl asap. Even with that still expect to spend up to an hour or more assembling the raid and for it to potentially fall apart after a few bosses several times.
Good luck
Yeah I figured that, but wouldn’t you just get higher ilvl with M+ and not the 4 piece and legendary upgrades and such? You can luckily get higher ilvl with the Fated LFRs right now, though.
Yeah and I feel like doing ZM will be more so a trap since the sandworn relics don’t drop a good amount.
M0 is 262 I’m pretty sure although I’m on my phone so idk. But yes even doing a very low key with 1 affix could get you to 270 legit zero effort.
Thank you very much, I’ve literally found exactly 0 info about this when I was looking into getting tier. Hoping if a returning player finds this post they see this info.
definitely. doing ZM to get access to the teir set upgrades is still a good idea though.
Pretty much, and if I understand the crucible thing correctly, you can turn the Mythic+ gear into tier pieces?
Oh totally. Doing the campaign up to that point is definitely worth.
also i run guildies through low m+ dungeons so if you ever see this dud on(usually after work so later during the afternoon) i can run you through some to get you at least one thing from vault
It would be nice if along with that email enticing players to return for Slime Cat Blizzard included a guide for getting geared up to meet the requirements for Normal. Because if I’m totally honest this info doesn’t seem to be readily available or easy to find and I can see a lot of players just wasting time in ZM without knowing they need to get tier sets and there’s an easier way to get them, etc.
