Is Razer Turbo in the synapse app allowed?

This program controls all sorts of razer product features.

One that is interesting and could relieve my carpal tunnel issues, is the feature turbo. It repeats the singular input of keys you activate it on. Is this useable?

No. The rule is one keypress is one action.

And not one keypress, you take a tea break and your character does things by itself.

Useable? yes.

Is it automation? yes, it doesn’t get any clearer than that.

Could it get your account actioned? absolutely!

That’s not what turbo is though. Turbo is you hold the key down and it just registers the key press over and over until you release it. It’s just taking the place of spamming the key. They even implemented something similar in the game settings with the “press and hold” casting, though it doesn’t really work very well.

You shouldn’t use any software that allows anytime of automated action or macro which occurs outside of the game. This would include things like your Razor software, or things like Autohotkey, and yes software hitting the same key over and over, counts as automation, and could make your account subject being actioned.

The press-and-hold thing in the game options is allowed, because it’s an option Blizzard specifically put in (and it only works under very specific conditions that Blizzard controls). Using external software to do the same thing is not allowed. It’s automation. These things are typically either a 6 month suspension or a permaban on the first offense. It’s considered botting and they do not play around.

Do not do this if you value your account.

How do they know? Like I’m not a smart computer guy or anything but i am an old guy and i actually considered a key repeater until this post. I have awful arthritis in my hands and it severely limits my ability to play effectively. I haven’t done it or even researched it for WOW really, but how would Blizzard know you are doing this? Can they legally scan systems and check for software? Can they tell in game? I just don’t know how any of it works or executes so was purely curious.

Because they can see all the inputs being made and how frequently. It’s extremely easy for them to detect really.

Yes. You agreed to let them.

Absolutely.

It’s actually well documented that such things would be considered automation and can/will lead to an account action up to or including closure on the first offence. I’d stay clear away from such actions

Yeah for sure… Just amazes me they are able to tell a human hitting a key and a computer simulating that key.

While like in all things, there is never a guarantee for a response? If you reach out to the Accessibility Team, they may well shoot you a response in how to best work with your limitations. I know quite a few people who we’ve referred to them over time do end up getting a response back (I just feel better making sure to lay the non-response issue on the table).

Good luck to you!

Know what you mean about arthritis pain in hands, I have it bad in both hands. If you can get some sort of wrist strap for support it may help, how ever they are uncomfortable when using keyboard and mouse. Main thing is to try and take regular breaks and do hand exercises when you can. Hope you get some relief.

They can detect what is running on your computer and they can see your keystrokes! They know when your doing stuff that is not possible under normal game play! You will not fool them or get away with it!

You can get a USB foot switch or one with several pedals that you can bind to the pedals instead of doing all the functions and commands with your fingers and hands.

Every single thing do you in the game is logged. And Warden can see what’s running on your computer at the same time with WOW and interacting with the game or inputs. The game itself is like the ultimate surveillance state, where every single thing everyone does is recorded and logged at all times.

Any type of input that breaks the ToS “one key input per one key push” is considered automation.
The Razer software itself is safe and okay to use because it’s needed for drivers and software updates on the Razer devices you have, however some of the actions you can enable will definitely get you in the doghouse with blizzard for automation.

My advice, the first thing I would do is uninstall the extra app within Razer for macro making…get rid of it and never look back…it’s bad news and will help with any temptation. If you wanna use macros, you can use the macros built in game. There’s a addon called GSE you can use that can help with making macros… again, GSE is legal but if used with a illegal device/program it can and will get you in trouble.
As for turbo, I would keep everything set normally and do not touch the “turbo” option because blizzard can pick up if you are using it by your amount of keystrokes per second. After setting up your Razer products and after saving…I would close out the Razer software just to be safe. The software isn’t needed to run for it to work because you aren’t using macros…and any changes to your devices is programmed and saved on the device. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

I totally understand your issues with your hands, and wrists…I have it terribly bad myself and my best piece of advice is to think about using a PlayStation or Xbox controller. Wow has in-game support for controllers and there’s a addon called Console port. Once setup, it’s a total game changer.
I literally do everything with my controller aside from chatting.
I even have it setup for use with Console Port and without . If you need any help, feel free to message me here private…and I can exchange battle tags and be happy to help you out with setting it up.
Doesn’t use anything third party, strictly a built-in addon to make setting up a controller easier.
Both add-ons GSE and Console Port are on Curseforge. I can help with the controller but I know nothing about GSE as I don’t bother with Macros…just keybinds to controller.
Happy gaming my friends.

I mean, a human mashing a button 10 times a second will have variation in the timing between each button input.
A computer engaging turbo mode to press a button 10 times a second will always have each button press be 1/10th of a second apart, with no variation.

Yep, and they’ve been able to easily tell that for decades. It’s not something that’s difficult for a computer to see. Humans can never time anything as precisely as computers can.
