Is Razer Synapse OK with ToS?

Hello

Is it ok to use the macro function of Razer Synapse for WoW ? From what I understand the basic rule is : one button, one action.

Razer Sypnase would allow you to have a pretty crazy Cleanse macro by using the text command (/target X, /cast Cleanse) because Cleanse doesn’t trigger the GCD when there is nothing to dispel (on Classic). That means you could chain the command for every single raid member and it would automatically dispel whoever has something on it at … very quick speed.

Technically speaking, that is one action one key, but it does check for 40 differents actions. What do you think ?

Honestly I wouldn’t chance it. Blizzard isn’t gonna say “it’s okay”. Use at your own risk.

I think that the best way to be “safe” is to use the in-game macro feature to build the macro, and just bind it to a mouse button if you want to fire it off that way.

Building a macro outside the game with any 3rd party software is opening yourself up to problems.

If you’ve written a macro to check for 40 different actions via the in-game macro interface, then it’s fine. Anything you can do with in-game macros is fair game.

With this scenario, though, it would indeed take 40 button presses, because “/tar (raid member)” is one keypress. Doesn’t matter what GCD or non-GCD stuff you include; the targeting precludes one button press checking 40 people, because the second and all subsequent “/tar” actions require their own press.

If you’ve written a macro in Razer Synapse to perform 40 different targeting actions in-game with a single keypress, then again, you’re opening yourself up to issues.

Easiest answer when it comes to macros, if it can’t be made using the in-game macro system, then definitely do not make it using 3rd party software of any kind.

Razer Synapse is fine. Been using it for YEARS… 10+ years have had Razer Naga.

No, that would not be OK as it would be attempting 40 actions for one key press. You would need 40 different macros, or one macro set at mouseover target, and then press the key 40 times for it to be something that the in-game macro system does. Any external macro has to ONLY be able to do what the internal system already allows or it would be considered as automation.

There’s no issue using the mouse itself, Zortarumybae, but how you use it’s macro features could be the concern. As Perl mentioned, the functionality should be limited by what you could do within the games macro system.

Forgot to mention that Synapse running in the background is fine. Binding a key to a wow made macro is fine. My mouse wheel down is set to disengage/stoneform (whatever the iron dwarf equivalent is) So Synapse is fine, but make sure the macro is a wow macro that you bound to. Same with the Logitec G-key macro system. Been using that for 10+ years as well and no problems.

Absolutely, I completely agree; I run Synapse myself. And like you, I also have macros bound to mouse keys; with the eight buttons and modifiers, I am sometimes in situations (generally healing) where I have 20+ abilities bound to my mouse. All of these things are fine and within the rules. :+1:

I only meant to be critical of the stuff I discussed up there in my previous post. I definitely don’t want to dissuade anyone from using Razer Synapse, or binding macros to their mouse. :slightly_smiling_face:
