Even using an honor ring to double stack your best secondary until your very last upgrade or keeping honor trinkets until the very end is perfectly fine
Idk its just crazy to me that anyone can be disgruntled with current gearing when there are virtually no meaningful ilvl discrepancies when compared to shadowlands season 1 and 2. Iām still an advocate for completely removing gearing from pvp (because i dont care for the immersion or rpg progression thing) and just scaling up everyone to max ilvl from day 1 of the season when inside instanced pvp (note that this would not prevent less skilled players from instantly dying), but we have it so good atm for an rpg after experiencing the actual cell sickness that was shadowlands
The reality is 10% stats is 10% stats.
I could do a 100 million game in greens and you would just immedaitly discount it. Gear does not matter hardly at all for healers outside of situations where throughput is at the maximum, or when youāre dying in stuns. Which I would argue is a positioning problem, or when your team has no pressure and even healers are damaging you.
Gear matters less for healers, because youāre overhealing 60-70% a game on some classes and all the extra throughput you get is quite literally, converted to overhealing. This is why high end raid guilds donāt gear healers first.
Skill > Team > gear
All day. Any day.

10% stats is hardly anything. Stop acting like being in honor gear compared to conquest is this dramatic change in throughput. Itās not.
The only argument you could make is min/maxing depending on your playstyle by choosing secondaries through crafting. However, literally no one does this but me and handful of people.
Healers need peals/good dps regardless of gear.
melee dps need backline/healers regardless of gear
ranged need a frontline/healers regardless of gear.
This is why everyone on the tournament realm chooses to compete in greensā¦er, wait a minuteā¦

Yeah, I wouldnāt compare healers to DPS when talking about the necessity of gear. Equal skill and same DPS class, an honor geared player isnāt going to push a conquest geared player much at all.
I said this above. An undergeared healer can do fine in a BG provided they are coming in with a premade and there isnāt a strong premade on the other side. But, a healer in green gear coming in solo as a PUG is not going to have a good time.
You view things from a team perspective. I view things more from a solo queue perspective.

What do you mean it makes no difference? As a PUG you would have no guarantee that you get peels or even assistance from another healer. You might actually end up being the only healer on your team.

on a 60m game
If you go into a BG in green gear as the only healer as a PUG everyone and their mother is going to be focusing you.

Keep in mind though itās not just the ilvl bump but the addition of tier, embellishments and the chance to stack the right secondary.
Like if a devo runs full honor gear they are stacked with almost zero mastery and their burst goes are wet noodle status. But if they take the time to stack full mast/vers their ilvl is only up by 10-13 but their burst damage is almost double.
Itās also super spec-dependent which you alluded to - being undergeared as sub feels bad; you canāt often finish in your go and then youāre stuck waiting or dying. But as a MM hunter you can pretty much wear anything in a bg and feel effective.
