Is pathfinder starting to get old?

I’ve said before - I’m much more inclined to explore and spend time on max-level characters if I can fly. I am tired of it being gated behind part 1/2. Even if there was only 1 part and at that point you could fly, I’d feel better about that.

Very very very very old

Let’s keep kicking the same dead horse.

Don’t like PF? Don’t do it.
It isn’t required for anything.

Everyone else’ll get flying and soar.

that which is dead isn’t truely dead until it is no more, in spirit and body.

it is an inevitable consequence to find a way to make something that has few options or few enjoyments or is difficult to be made easier, more fun or more avalible. This is the progress of all humans, to resist change is to value the past, to value the past is to stand on former change. It is selfish in nature, even if its only toward morals or principals.

I want options considered, to allow people to choose a way to accomplish a task that gives them what they want. Wether the fustration is because of waiting, or how to accomplish pathfinding, it is part of the development and release and can be augmented to find a better and more generally appreciated way.

we don’t need to worry about numbers, we don’t need to point out the flaws in peoples opinions, we do need to point out the flaws in stated facts. a yes, a no, or undecided is fair.

It isn’t? That’s news to me…and I imagine everyone else.

Blatant falsehood is blatant.

What’re you baiting for this time?

Yes. There seems to be this fallacious idea that flying in Azeroth can’t be immersive, despite the fact that…

A: The world can be immersive from the skies. Pandaria and Northrend were great whether you were in land or sky.

and

B: It wasn’t a problem during the game’s most successful years, but now we’re expected to believe it’s suddenly a problem during it’s less-successful years?

If we’re insistent on keeping Pathfinder, it should be something you can achieve when the expansion drops. Having to wait two patches arbitrarily is just pointless gating.

Pathfinder’s been kept now for three expansions…

But it seems to be a popular opinion to just give flying away for next to nothing “as it was before” without any effort whatsoever other than reaching max level and shelling out a few gold coins.

It’s nice that you earn flying now by actively playing the game. True, the meta could be pared down and it needn’t last two patches, but maybe Pt2 should come out with 8.2 (hopefully not 8.3), but it gives the expansion substance.

8.1 is the first actual patch considering the state that BfA shipped in.

I challenge this idea that we ‘earned’ flying with the Pathfinder achievements. They were rudimentary errands at best. If we didn’t have to wait for the ‘part 2’ everyone would already have it within a week.

Additionally, there was essentially nothing pertaining to flight in either WoD or Legion’s ‘part 2’ achievement. Just a rep gate. Boring.

Again, I don’t see the problem with just allowing it right away. The most damaging thing it would do is reduce herb/mining prices, but make said herbalists and miner’s jobs easier. oh no.

I can think of a few of dungeons and raids that are inaccessible without it once you’ve outleveled LFD/LFR.

The Botanica, The Mechanar, The Arcatraz, Naxxramas, Ulduar, Halls of Lightning, Stonecore, Vortex Pinnacle, Throne of the Four Winds, Bastion of Twilight, Mogu’shan Vaults…

I think WoD was the first expansion where every instance was actually ground-accessible.

I like Pathfinder because I don’t actually like flying for anything other than the zones that are nothing but bloody mountains.

Flying has been nothing but a drain on this game. There is literally no reason for Blizzard to put ANY effort in to zones if they enable flying right from the get-go, because everyone will just blatantly ignore it after the first week (or first day if you’re a NEET lmao) of the expansion if Pathfinder didn’t force the playerbase to use their ground mounts.

With sharding and CRZ the zones are already fairly empty the majority of the time outside of cities and towns. With flying you never see anybody ever again because “If I fly too low I get ganked, or have to spend an extra twenty seconds going around things rather than just slapping my forehead on the spacebar to ignore everything. This game sucks : (”

And anybody that just responds to this with “JuSt DonT USe FlYinG tHen” fails to realize that anybody that doesn’t is now the person getting completely railed from behind by everyone with a flying mount.

The zones are empty because blizzard can’t make good world content; there is no reason to venture out into the world once you have revered for pathfinder. If pathfinder didn’t exist i doubt you would see many people in the world at all. Until they learn to make compelling world content the game will continue to revolve around instanced content.

Blizzard has no reason to make good world content if everyone will just ignore it anyway because “It’s faster to fly lol”

People ignore it because they can’t fly or they queue for instances. With flying I would be in the world and I have seen a lot of players being there in MoP. Without flying I just don’t bother and don’t buy the xpac or playtime.

I don’t want to come back just for flying. I want flying at max level like it was because that was more fun for me.

The longer I don’t play WoW because of pathfinder the more likely I’ll find other games I like and possibly get somewhat invested in them.

I shouldn’t have to explain why I like flying, justify it, or convince the devs to change it. I think the game is better with flying and more fun for me. So without it I’ve just abandoned WoW and continued to look elsewhere for something as fun as WoW used to be for me.

We will never fly in relevant content, where you spend the bulk of your time, again. That has effectively removed flight from the game unless you find yourself hanging out in Org.

FFXIV has flying rather quickly apparently… but, that game has its own issues.

And here you are, 500+ posts into it. Stop wasting time with stuff you don’t like.

And on that bombshell, I’m going to take my own advice and get the heck out of the forum swamp and get some sleep.

Reaching max level doesn’t require any effort now?

What game are you playing?

It sure isn’t wow.

That’s funny, because that’s how you used to get flying: you got to max level, then you purchased flying.

But please, tell us more about this zero effort game where flying was given away for

Because it’s never any wow release any of us have ever played.

Perhaps some private server, or other bootleg version that got shut down perhaps?

Ah, you’re only 110… i can see why you’d be confused…
You’re still living in a past expansion.

In 2012. It’s 2018 now… the game’s changed. You’ve got to adapt.

( ^-- odd that it quotes Wanobi when it was me that said that)

Here’s good news in regards to getting even more than a few coins with 8.1!
