Instead of “slap in the face” and “out of touch with reality”, I want to see new phrases used to express impotent outrage.
Maybe we go old timey with “sticks in my craw”.

“That sure puts a hitch in my get along” has always hit well with me too.

“Out of touch” replaced “slap in the face”
“Disengenuous” replaced “gas lighting / trolling”
No because you can’t capitalize words to give that extra dramatic flare.
a SLAP in the FACE! vs out of TOUCH with REALITY!
