Is multiboxing bannable?

I just want to be sure. I won’t use any third-party programs or anything like that. I just thought about leveling two characters at the same time, paying for two different accounts; playing both in windowed mode, switching between windows, and moving each one independently.

Maybe I use the automatic movement buttons of the game itself or the option to click on the portrait>Follow, would there be a problem with that?

You can multibox, you just can’t use tools for keypress broadcasting.

Multi-boxing is not bannable. Using third party software that allows you to make macros to issue the same command to multiple accounts is.

multiboxing itself is not bannable, using any method to control two characters at the same time is.

the method you propose is fine since youre not controlling two characters at once, youre controlling one character at a time

You have to manually control every account, tab between them and do all the stuff yourself. That’s legal.

Note the part that says you can not do/use anything to “streamline” the process.

Personally, I’d highly recommend against it.

But you won’t get much more official info beyond that support article.

Nope! but it is super tedious tabbing between windows. I have two accounts I run for achieve stuff and it’s fine, just annoying tabbing back and forth.

It is now if you do it the way it used to be done. Jealous people who couldn’t afford it kept complaining about it so it got banned. The majority of MMOs still allow it. FFXIV allows it. They don’t restrict players so much.

Thanks everyone, I just thought it would be fun to roleplay a character based on Venture Co and another on Chemical Co at the same time for this event of love

I’m just a guy with free time, not looking to do anything bad; Tabbing is Tedious but at least is Legal

So your plan is to constantly tab between playing say, a Warrior and a Mage?
It’s legal. But more importantly, sounds absolutely miserable lol

Damn two threads back to back where you’re just giving completely awful opinions

People specifically complained about the wall of DK multiboxers one shotting people in pvp, it got especially bad in BFA, I remember seeing them everywhere and all the comaplints about them cheesing warmode etc. Before that it was popular to have one pally and 4 shaman multibox teams.
I used to multibox 3 DK’s but it was never for pvp shenanigans, it was just for achievements and gathering. Now I only multibox one other char.

that and the packs of 5 druid bots strip-mining nazjatar of its zinthanthid, or the (again) packs of 5 druids aggressively farming raw gold by standing in one place spamming that aoe attack boomkin have that deletes everything in a stupidly wide radius

maybe the enemy wasn’t the multi boxing but just druids

Not only that, but FFXIV is the same as WoW and doesn’t allow third party software to automate.

Yeah they’re definitely jealous of your opulence. The masses wish they could afford not just one but TWO subscriptions at once, truly the height of prestige, highly enviable.

I’ll also put Netflix in a small player.

I definitely couldn’t afford, but well roleplay things.

I don’t think Blizzard minds either.

If it brings you joy, you do what you wish!

But third party software wasn’t banned because of jealousy.

No, but at some point in recent years they did prohibit the use of key cloning software that’d broadcast keystokes to multiple clients at once. As long as you’re doing things manually you’ll be fine.

Found the 2020 blue post quote from a news website:

“World of Warcraft is evolving rapidly, and our rules are changing with it. These changes support the quality of the game and help us respond to the needs of the players. We looked at how the game uses third-party programs that allow reproducing a keystroke or action in other game clients, and came to the conclusion that these programs negatively affect the game, contributing to the proliferation of bot characters and automating the gameplay. We will soon introduce penalties for using programs that copy keystrokes to other WoW clients. We believe that this rule is in the interests of our players and will have a beneficial effect on the game’s balance."

As you explained it, there would not be a problem with that.
