Multiboxing, or playing multiple World of Warcraft accounts at once, is not a violation of our End User License Agreement. Please note, however, that use of all software or hardware mechanisms used to mirror commands to multiple World of Warcraft accounts at the same time, or to automate or streamline multiboxing in any way may result in account penalties.
Here is you, “LA LA LA I AM KAREN I CAN’T HEAR YOU MULTIBOXING IS CHEATING NO MATTER WHAT A GM SAYS LA LA LA I REFUSE TO RECOGNIZE THE TOS LA LA LA REEEEEE”
Multiboxing, or playing multiple World of Warcraft accounts at once, is not a violation of our End User License Agreement.
And you wanna know WHY I ask? I got 5 accounts all with sub time… if I needed to cancel all the subs because things changed since I got the stuff, then for the sake of the subs I cancel them. Wouldn’t that make sense to you? Something new comes out, you ask questions to CUSTOMER SUPPORT.
Your personal opinion conflicts with Blizzard’s very clearly defined policy saying that it’s fine. I’m gonna go ahead and go with what blues and official Blizzard posts say instead of what some dude on the forums who doesn’t even understand what multiboxing is says, if that’s all right with you.
Streamlining would be anything that you can use to make multiboxing simpler and easier to do. For example a addon that will make all your toons mount or all collect loot from a mob at the same time or complete quests all at the same time.
Some of these addons are perfectly okay in group settings as long as your not boxing. If they are using an addon in blizards sandbox then they should be okay as long as they do not fall into streamlining with boxing.
As far as detection systems it might be but if someone is reported and they see multiple accounts running at once. Well it is easy for them to see if your using something to streamline or to any key cloning. If the logs show 5 accounts mounting all at the same second, Well they know that is not possible unless your doing something you should not be doing.
I have three screens and a 10+ button mouse. “/follow ” and random mount are macro’ed into my main bar (of respective team member) and keybound to my extra mouse buttons. Set Windows to change mouse focus and viola, one button follow and mount/dismount - with no extra programs or broadcasting.
With the right peripheral setup, I honestly don’t see the need for hardware or software. It can be difficult at times, ungainly…but still doable, for me a least.
Then why is hover to activate a window not bannable? It’s a windows 10 function. I use that, record myself to report bots, and send it to hacks@blizzard.com. Bots are gone I’m still here. Two monitors? Alt tabbing? Having a computer that is able to play two wows? This is why they clarified the bit at the front with multiple wow windows. These addons work via the in game chat NOT through an outside of the game command.
If someone is using software their warden picks it up, if someone is using hardware, they will see 5 systems logged in or keyboard macros in use. Do not use keyboard macros… If they get a report and someone has an addon installed and it creates that “grey” area… they break the addon 9/10 not the player BECAUSE someone using that addon that ISN’T boxing with 5 players in their party (for rp mounting) would look like the same thing.
But, “they just detect the amount of account open.” What if someone has 5 computers and 4 kids underneath the age of 12 (I think it’s 12 that’s the bnet cut off) playing in their house and their kids get lost so they do that to keep them in line? It’s out there, but that would look the exact same if they did the mount function to get all the kids on a mount and the follow me function. I have seen this.
But again we are beating a dead horse again at this point… Blizzard dictates it, not you, not me or anyone else in this thread. Only ones that know are blizzard and are they gonna say anything? Probably not in this thread cause they already answered it in other threads.
Their logs would show the difference, First they would not see the addon doing this! They would also see each computer doing their own thing with slight time differences that could tell them it is not automated.
All the kids have the addon installed and the parent says follow me and the addon that the kid has installed makes them follow. That’s what I ment. What’s the difference between someone doing this with 5 computers with them compared to their kids?
And yes logs would show the difference to a degree. Still 5 computers logged in from the same network. Only thing would be different sets of hardware for each computer and no KVM syncro switch and that each computer has it’s own keyboard and mouse. They are cracking down on RMT and bots and all the grey areas and fine lines, guess we will find out in the next few months on what is and isn’t allowed. Maybe there will be a false TSM ban because anyone using it can post auctions extremely fast or are using scripts to post and scan stuff while the addon phones back to an outside data base… who knows?
Also, auto selling addons, bag management addons, gear management addons for solo accounts. Those considered bannable? What about tsm (again) where you just scroll your mouse wheel down and list 100s of auctions as fast as you can spin. Mass mailing of items in an instant via an addon instead of manually going through it… what constitutes automation even on a solo account in terms of addons?
If they don’t want automation then they need to ban it for a solo account not just be like, “oh multiboxing can’t use x y z but solo account that’s ok.” What you would use with 1 would be the same with the rest. Their detection system needs to be able to pick stuff up not everyone and their brother reports and they go, “I think they were botting? Idk our system shows they have this addon installed on a single account… but that’s ok to have on a solo account? Wait it was automating their game play? Banned!” player submits gm ticket asking what they did and blizzard won’t answer with a 100% clear answer other than botting because they don’t want people abusing it
Again, beating a dead horse and this has been discussed so many times in different threads.
multi-boxing is okay as long as you’re not using bot programs like healing bots or spell bots, and as long as you’re not account farming where you have 75 accounts that breaks the game
