Is LW that important for hunters?

Never been a fan of LW was thinking of switching to Alch Herb so I can make own flasks and stuff instead

I can be if you have difficulty getting gear. I went Engineering with mine so I can make my own ammo and guns.

You don’t need it at all.

Play what you like for real. No profession is a must have. Enjoy the game the way you want.

Leather working is a complete waste. For hunter go engineering to make your own ammo.

It can be beneficial early on to build some pre-raid gear, especially for casual players that may not raid much. Plus battle drums, but if you raid odds are really high that someone else will have them anyways.

I’ll often start off using crafting to build my pre-raid set, then I tend to switch after my gear catches up. Like I’ll run BS on my warrior for the weapons, but once I get some decent replacements, I may switch over to JC for the gems.

Basically this. You save so much money making your own ammo.

Nah. None of the professions are “mandatory” now since the drums nerf. Even Spellfire/Spellstrike for Mages and Locks, Mooncloth for healers etc isn’t “mandatory” unless you’re pushing like realm-firsts and stuff.

People are, predictably, putting too much meta-emphasis on professional min-maxing. Take whatever you want. I went Elixir Master Herb/Alch on my rogue. Why? Because I wanted to. I enjoy it.

Can engineering make arrows too?

No, not in Vanilla at least. I didn’t do engineering in BC so I don’t remember if they could make arrows in BC. You could exhange the best bullets for the best arrows in vanilla though. If I remember BC correctly, once Hyjal is open the rep vendor there sells the best ammo. But still, making your own ammo while using a gun does save lots of money.

Eww, guns. If I’m playing a hunter I want a bow. Crossbows are barely tolerated.

Yes, the schematic Adamantine Arrow Maker drops off sunfury archers. It is an easy schematic to get.

The gear is okay, and you can make some money with it. So, unless you like the idea of crafting your own armor, stick with herbalism/alchemy, or engineering/mining.

Skinning is a must-have when WotLK Classic is released. You get an AGI bonus for being maxed. You get a STA bonus for mining. My Paladin tank in WotLK had skinning and mining maxed out. Aside from that, nah.

The best arrows are from rep in bc. Kara revered and another rep for honored for early on. I dont believe eng ever had the ability to make arrows that I remember.

For alliance though don’t most hunters use the honor hold gun?

What is the nerf to drums? Google is not helping, I can’t find anything, and what does it mean?

Lw is goof for pre-raid bis, but you can get by without it.

If you don’t have an alt for ALCH / Herb, you can easily go alch / herb on your hunter.

About to respec from mid range LW/skinning to engi/mining.

Looked at the AH. Since the “kind” gun ammo sellers are price gouging the hell out of ammo in the last days of classic I fear the gouge will be there in tbc for its ammo.

You will burn more in ammo costs than leather armour as I see it. leather armour is a 1 time buy. 200 ammo buys…will be your “friend” for as longs as you play TBC lol. Nickel and dimed to death a phrase that comes to mind there. For me anyway.

Have off tomorrow to extend the us holiday weekend. I see much mining and engi spam happening to catch up lol.
