Is it wrong to gear check people for dungeons?

I am curious to see how people feel about this, but on my alt I’m running some friends though Deadmines and for the most part our entire party is level 21-24 with mostly blues and we’re just doing it to fill in an item or two from the last bosses.

We were looking for two other people, and we ended up having to deny a bunch of people because most of their gear was greens/whites and they didn’t even have anything enchanted yet.

This led to people complaining about our party in trade chat, and we had to deal with some hate because of it.

It’s our party, we get to make the rules and I just don’t see why it’s such a big deal if we have certain expectations for the people we want playing with us.

I guess I don’t see anything wrong with it but people are making it seem like we’re in the wrong.

idk I think people who cling to grasping at low hanging fruit are stuck on the internet most days, the least you can do is give them a break and smile their direction once and a while, even if you and they both know you’re simply sympathizing

There is nothing wrong with posting your group “geared grp” “only geared allowed” etc.

even though I think it doesn’t matter for Deadmines at all. I’ve done Deadmines with characters with only white quality armor.

Overleveling/overgearing dungeons is the normal for HC and will last all the way to 60.

No, but it is wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon.

Garmuck is definitely trolling and mirroring what some people are actually looking for in dungeon groups.

Some people will literally not do dungeons until the out level them then wonder how they died to 2 same level mobs in the overworld.

You are in the wrong. My rogue is level 16, and the only green I have is the dagger from the rogue quest. Every other quest reward has been a white item.

Well people dont really use enchants anymore for leveling dungeons, especially low ones like that. Same with gear. They are usually faceroll on difficulty so to me it does not seem like gear really matters. Sometimes i will wear heirlooms, but I have like 28 alts at least 52,like 16 above 60, and a few 70,never prioritize gear leveling. In classic yes,but on retail you replace gear so fast there is no point gearing up for each level range of dungeons. Does not mean you are wrong, just a little reasoning as to why you encounter low geared players.

I did not realize this was a classic post, disregard my comment.

Lol 21-24 is fine for DM prob the perfect amount of overkill. No one should have all blues and enchantments though.

Not wrong at all… Deadmines has such a wide level spread on mobs that if you aren’t geared fairly well, killing the last couple of bosses is super hard. If, by level 20, they haven’t at least gotten all greens from quest rewards/drops, they definitely have enough silver to buy some off the ah to fill gaps.

Let them complain.

They can form their own group.

But then there would be no reason to come here and attampt to bait if people just ignored what they didn’t care for and moved on.

I think if you are not fully bis at anytime your character should die and you should start over. If you need gear you should already have it. If you need to run a dungeon for bis gear it’s because you don’t have bis gear and you deserved to start over.
