But they didn’t make every race aware of the planet destruction and genocide they knew they were bringing to the planet?
More like the orcs didn’t have a name for Draenor, the orcs(particularly Durotan) picked it up and spread it to the rest of the orcs and the rest of the Eastern Kingdoms started calling it that because it was the Horde who attacked them.
Also, the ogres and Arrakkoa had their own name that they were using IIRC.
orcs used the ogre word “daw’gar” or something like it. what i wanna know is why the draenei practiced phrenology
I thought that it was mostly the Awakeners, a relative minority in draenic society, who were into that?
Yes they did.
But draenei made CERTAIN that every single clan knew that Dawgar was Draenor.
Unless you have a different source Rise of the Horde specifically mentions the orcs did not have a proper name for their world.
There is nothing that ever mentions that use the ogre world and why would they use the word of a race they were enemies with?
Dawgar is what the ogres called Draenor, not orcs. Orcs simply called it “world” like we just call our planet “earth”.
Dawgar literally means earth.
Jee whizz Jimmy, why would a race enslaved by an empire use that empire’s words?
ACKTCHUALLY Earth (or Terra) by itself is the name of the planet. The body in on itself is a planet called Earth
I get your point, though.
That assumes said empire would even talk or teach their slave words at all. Hell, many wanted their enemies to be ignorant to prevent the spread of ideas.
You do know orcs were intelligent right? They’re going to pick up on a few things, as much as their enslavers tried to prevent it
I just assumed ‘Draenor’ is the word that sort of just stuck. Similar to how there are French and Spanish words in the English language and vice versa. Languages tend to start bleeding into one another after hundreds of years.
Maybe they (wrongfully) assumed their homicidal cousins wouldn’t find them this time? Either way it was a dumb move on their part seeing as how it all went down. However, I do know the Orcs didn’t take too kindly to the Draenei trying to explain what Oshu’gun was, so maybe they didn’t want to push it with the whole ‘On witness protection from the Legion’ thing.
Hearing someone talk does not automatically mean you will learn someone else language. And even under the assumption that did find out what the ogres use for the world for their planet was, I doubt they would be particularly interested in incorporating it to their own.
Being around it long enough most certainly does.
I can’t believe that Zerde’s saying they don’t understand eachother.
https://youtu.be/FRnabRRi1ik?t=68
I don’t think anyones suprised anymore by the things he says
For all we know he was speaking in orcish as oppose to the ogre language. Why teach your slave your language when you can learn theirs and thus make it so you can speak in a manner they cannot understand while you can understand everything they talk about?
Tell me oh great ad hominem, where is your proof they were speaking in ogre?
Where in that quote do you THINK I said that?
I’ll wait.
You decided to support Dread’s insane proposition, maybe don’t support one who is built on a false premise. I never one said they didn’t understand each other, Also that statement is just one big ad hominem.
All I said is nobody is surprised by the dumb things you say
It’s just pointing out that you say a lot of blantantly wrong things. That’s you, YET AGAIN, not understanding how the English language works
