Is it too late to try TBC classic at this point?

Took some months away from the game because my PC of 10+years was down and took a while to build a new one.
I’m entirely too far behind in retail to even consider trying to catch up at this point. The amount of things to grind just doesn’t seem feasible.

IIRC I was able to keep up in vanilla TBC because there wasn’t so many sets to farm…

Is it too late now to start now? Bots out of control? Gold out of control?

That depends on you. If you’re starting now you still have to go through the process of getting attuned and getting gear. The same process everyone else has gone through because nobody wants to hold your hand. The only way around this is to find a guild willing to help you.

TBH it’s much easier to catch-up in retail vs TBC because retail resets gear every season (every raid tier). Classic resets gear every expansion.

Pretty much yes. Almost all servers are dead already. You can roll on one of the two mega servers depending on if you want to be horde or alliance BUT, and this is a big BUT… Bots are way, way, way out of control on those servers. Do not expect to be able to utilize any gathering skills as bots control all the nodes (herbs, ore).

Also, guilds already have their rosters on the two active servers so they are not looking for anyone. On the other servers, there are not enough people to fill groups to even do heroics.

TBC is mostly in a sad state already and it is only phase 2. Play at your own risk.

I would say it’s not to late depending on what you want to do and the server and faction you pick and what class you want to play ie a desired class like shaman pally lock but what ever server do pick join it’s discord

It’s totally doable, and actually I think easier now than it was early on. I recently started raiding on a fresh 70. Just Karazhan and such but I’m gearing up way faster than I did on my main, which hit 79 and started raising like a week after TBC dropped. Especially if you play something like a healer that guilds really want and need. They’re willing to take you into Karazhan and funnel loot to you over people’s alts, if you’re a main they think will be raiding. My buddy is nearly p1 BiS as a fresh tank and he’s only been 70 for about a month. To be fair he’s had a lot of luck with drops, but his guild needed another tank, so they’ve gotten him set up nicely in a really short time. I think he’s still rocking two pieces of pre-BiS, but otherwise is fully BiS or very close.

I’ve had similar luck on my Resto Shaman, which has gotten about 8 or so epics in just about three weeks worth of raiding. Luck will play a major part in how quickly you get geared, but if you play a desired class, a guild will most likely get you set up as long as they see you as desirable. The attunements don’t take long at all. Now if you play something like a Rogue, you’re really gonna struggle to get gear this late.

Yea I don’t really know what he’s talking about. I actually very rarely see bots in the open world. They’re mostly in dungeons. I’m on the Horde server equivalent and have zero issue mining/herbing.

On healthy realms it is never too late.
On dying realms, yes, it is too late.
Simply pick a realm that says medium or high.

If you are going horde, I always recommend Windseeker as it could certainly use more to ensure our future. It does not need more alliance but most PVEs are alliance majorities anyway.

I started whitemane alliance last two days ago.
Last night, I reached out level 31 and got a mount.
Through my experience while levelling, I have met few of my guild alts and very few of players levelling on the field. I would say most of other low level players (a.k.a alts) just buy a mage boost.
I was like hardcore horde player back then but now I’m just chilling and play casually. So in my opinion, it is never late to play right now.

Here’s My tip

  1. Join a mega server
  2. Join a friendly guild
  3. Herbalism/Skinning/Mining for golds.
  4. Explore entire Azeroth and have fun!

Stop lying to people who are here genuinely asking for help. Trolling is against the TOS.

This dude is very obviously botting and lying, don’t listen to this drivel. Notice how he only has 9 posts, doesn’t even have his avatar showing and suddenly comes out of the woodwork to defend bots.

This forum is COVERED in complaints about bots taking all the gathering nodes. He is absolutely lying.

Lol that happens when you transfer servers big guy. Nice try.

This guy is level ten and a notorious troll, so.

you could at least make your trolling less obvious than trying to suggest that a server with 348 guilds on it has 0 guilds recruiting

You should get off the forums and go level. There’s a whole entire game outside of Westfall.

To be fair there have been A LOT of threads where people on the mega servers state that getting herbs like Mana Thistle and Terocone is impossible as they are camped 24/7.

I agree though that if someone starts playing today they should go straight to a mega server.

The answer is yes…and no.

It depends which server you are on. If you aren’t alliance on benediction or horde on Whitemane/faerlina, it probably is too late to start.

Basically every other realm is dying because everyone raid logs and nobody runs dungeons anymore. And since blizzard is totally and utterly incompetent and won’t merge servers, there’s really no point playing on any servers except the three mentioned above.

For instance my 70 characters are on netherwind and I’ve basically stopped playing them because I’m leveling a warlock on benediction. I’ve always wanted one, and am currently lvl 59. It’s a night and day difference. Lfg is full of people running dungeons. Even saw an aq40 in lfg.

So the answer is its far from too late…unless you pick any server but benediction Whitemane or faerlina. Your odds of doing anything on any other server become (a rough estimate) a couple hundred percent harder.

My alliance is on faerlina and it’s pretty hoppin’ for alliance over there as well. I come from deviate delight though so my comparison is pretty night and day.

There is plenty of time. Back in original tbc I had a guild break up shortly after ZA launch and was able to build a new one and progress from t4 all the way to Sunwell before WotLK hit. TBC gets more favorable to latecomers the deeper we get in the expansion.

Eventually you’ll be able to take alts into heroics at honored, get badges from kara, have a ton of badge gear to get you caught up and still have plenty of bosses to run for upgrades.

Please don’t listen to the chicken littles on these boards, they hate the game and want to see it fail and are more than happy to deceive you into thinking there isn’t any fun to be had.

Yes, it is too late, you’re going to come in where everyone else is raidlogging so you won’t have anyone to play with.

Meanwhile, FFXIV has 34mil players with an expansion in a month.

This isn’t OG TBC, there aren’t the influx of new players coming in. I’m on a mega server and there’s not many doing heroics unless it’s the daily.

It’s not complete doom and gloom, can always get a mag/gruuls by being an extra body or a Kara. But attunement for SSC/TK is going to be hard unless they join a friendly guild that will take them. That also depends on their class. There’s a lot of variables.

Exactly, old TBC had tons of new players joining everyday.

TBCC is on a managed decline, less people coming in who need to do the rep/attunes and everyone else already completing everything means no one to play with.
