Is it too late to start playing TBC Classic?

Is it too late to try TBC classic at this point?

Took some months away from the game because my PC of 10+years was down and took a while to build a new one. I’m entirely too far behind in retail to even consider trying to catch up at this point. The amount of things to grind just doesn’t seem feasible. IIRC I was able to keep up in vanilla TBC because there wasn’t so many sets to farm… Is it too late now to start now? Bots out of control? Gold out of control?
