I took a break a while ago from classic and i wanted to play the game again when i get some off time from work. I was leveling a paladin back then, manage to get pretty far but i wanted something new and engaging, since pally was really boring to level haha. Maybe prepare myself for TBC on the side too.
So i ask you lovely people if starting fresh is too late. If you any class suggestions for epic adventure I’m open to listen!
Most dungeons will be unavailable to you, as the majority of players who are leveling just afk and pay a mage to solo entire instances for them. Even the 50-60 dungeons are seldom run now. You can play, but be aware that you missed the best time to start by a mile. You’ll probably spend most of your time solo leveling by questing in a world devoid of players, so you should keep that in mind when choosing a class.
I started over on a new server over a week ago. I have multiple toons in their 20s. Currently working on leveling a rogue to max.
It is never too later to get into wow or classic wow. You are either arriving when stuff is new, current or on farm. Right now MC, BWL and ZG are on farm. I’d say it’s an excellent time to start fresh.
I wanted to not believe this, but I’m currently leveling an alliance hunter and horde warlock on 2 seperate high population servers and getting anyone interested in a leveling dungeon is a massive act of frustration.
Leveling “dungeons” consist of boosts, and anything else is very rare until you reach the level cap dungeons like UBRS/scholo/strat.
No. Play on a lower pop realm and no issues. The streamer realms from my experience yes u will be too late.
On whitemane i cant even find help on alli side for elite quests i cant solo unless im funded or level a few then come back. On grobbulus no issues at all. Did rfc going to do wc soon but plenty of people leveling and lots of people help me on hard quests too. I even help others. On whitemane i played alli on grob i play horde. The guild im in is new but not a leveling guild. We have people of all classes and levels and specs. Nobody on this server seems to care as long as you play your role.
While I will agree, dungeons up to 45-50 are scarce, they do happen, the key here is: You must create the group. People are more likely to want to join than go through the effort of forming it themselves.
I took a 6 month break and came back. I am in my 40s, still enjoying my time but now wanting to push to endgame content as this is the only endgame content I haven’t experienced yet.
I see plenty of both factions questing in zones still. I am on a High pop server, those with medium/lower pops may experience the more empty world.
I recently rolled an alliance warlock on Ateish and finding groups is a challenge for sure. I can find 2 other dps no problem but finding a tank or healer…not happening.
It’s sad but it is what it is. There isn’t an influx of new players coming to classic and people leveling alts just want to boast for the most part.
I advise against it. It’s an uphill battle for a new classic player.
First and foremost it will take you a while to level. Second server economies are heavily inflated and you’ll be starting at a huge disadvantage. Third guilds don’t need you. They need people fully decked out in BWL gear. If you do happen to get into a guild that lets you raid it’s because they suck and nobody else wants to be there. If you do get into good raiding guild you’ll be on the bench and the bottom of the totem pole for loot for a long time. If you enjoy spending a month of your time to reach level 60 and then get hand me downs from a bad guild, and never see progression content go for it.
dont listen to them. I only started my toon a few months ago well behind most because i have played world of warcraft since vanilla and was burnt out. At the end of the day there are still lots of players leveling on grobbulus and plenty of guilds that will recruit and help you play.
Leveling dungeons might be kind of hard to find but not even close to impossible. Yes, roll a character. Also choose professions like mining and you will easily have mount gold at 40
I’d say, decide what’s important to you. If running dungeons are important for your leveling experience, I’d advise a PvE realm. PvP realms seem to be mostly full of boosting now. PvE realms still have some groups going. Not as many as maybe you’d like, but you’ll see some. If PvP is important to you, then, be ready to mostly solo to 60.
I feel this to be true. Alot of the MEga servers are VERY top heavy. The reason was because it was locked for the longest time so there were no new players possible. The people that remained on the server obviously eventually leveled to 60 but with no new players, it will make a “True” leveling experience hard.
I’d avoid all the mega servers if I were you. While at face value youd think that higher population = more chances of groups, the overpopulation actually makes the lvling experience hard
There is an awful lot of that going on, but no that is not all there is. There is a lot of negativity on the forums and people will tell you it’s impossible to get a group, but it’s just not true… especially if you join a friendly guild.
There are tons of people that despise the carry culture and want to run dungeons too.
Definitely not too late. People are constantly leveling alts. You might not be able to form groups for more of the less-run instances like BFD or RFD but I still see people forming groups for the majority of dungeons at every level. Of course you’ll have to fight for advertisement on LFG chat against all of the boosting mages, but if you’re on a high population server and play during evenings, you’ll be able to find group members to quest with and dungeon with at any level if you choose.
And every server is still running MC/Ony/BWL and of course ZG. Run ZG as a fresh 60 and you’ll get enough gear from a single run to pull your own weight in BWL.
What I’m trying to say is: the leveling scene is still existent along with the end game raiding scene. Obviously there are many who just raid log and many who have unsubbed all together, but the game is definitely still alive and you should have no issues leveling a new character now. I’m currently leveling a druid and things are far better than the forum trolls claim.
I just rerolled on a different server a few weeks ago. A post was made in recruitment thread and I hadn’t played alliance since 2005 so I decided to reroll with them. We are all still in the 30-40 range and I’m having a blast leveling alliance instead of horde this time around
