It amazes me that people deny this so vehemently that they end up getting toxic over it being mentioned at all.
Then of course you have the “the real toxicity is mentioning that there is any toxicity” crowd.

this game has bred its self into what it is. ill probably return with a vengance one day to max out and lay crap on some paladin meta with a sub-teir class just cause
i gave up dungeons in shadowlands because i was being verbally harassed and kicked from groups for being average.
simple, go for nothing, bare bones, not even mythic runs and it was sheer hell to deal with the level of petty childish nonsense that was going on, i must have ran 120 dungeons or more and id say 80% of them were a terrible experience and if I was a new guy i would have quit the game on the spot atleast 80% of the time.
this game has honestly shown me the absolute bottom of what humans can act like on the internet in non-competitive setting. its not like we were going for world first.
it actually makes me more happy to turn away from this game now reflecting on how most of my interactions with this player base has been over the years
Breaks are healthy and good.
Happy Trails!
It’s just the general people became more terrible now. It is almost the whole internet that is nasty.
Look what the cat dragged in.
TWW is absolutely terrible. There’s nothing at all to do once you hit max level, it’s worse than WoD. WoD at this time in the expansion cycle was miles beyond what TWW is at this time.
You’re supposed to be spamming plunderstorm bro. lol
Go take a break and try something new, because it sounds like you need it. A primary reason people want to experience something for the “first time” again, is because they want that feeling of purpose and excitement. Embarking on a new adventure. Having a sense of fulfillment in what you do and becoming good at it eventually. It’s new, it’s fun, it’s exciting, and most importantly, it spurs your curiosity because you don’t know what’s coming. Familiarity and a sense of security often keep us stuck in one place, even if it makes us miserable. Think why Bilbo left the Shire despite his cozy lifestyle.
Perhaps go try a new game, a new MMO or single player RPG to get lost in. Get good at it like you did with WoW. Master the things you want to master until there’s nothing left to explore. Then maybe come back here and see what’s changed. Or if not a game, something you’re passionate about. Go write a story on WattPad. Maybe even an adventure irl? All and all, being lost in the sadness of what could’ve been on a game you’ve grown mostly bored of and too familiar with probably isn’t for the best. There are definitely better more healthier options out there, don’t limit yourself.
I hop between mmorpgs when I stop having fun with one of them. WoW, Gw2, FFXIV, ESO and the occasional Ragnarok Online. I have established characters and friends/guilds on all of them.
Breaks are good and bringing yourself to play something you find unfun is unhealthy.
Sounds like break time to me.
Definitely sounds like break time. Step away now before you become super bitter.
My god, I’d hate to be trapped in the misery some people seem to be in. “I only play MMOs and they all just suck right now so guess I’ll just go back to the less suck one and be miserable there”.
Correct. What’s your point, genius?
These are great. I just came back a few days ago after breaking at the beginning of September of last year. Since I’ve been back. I feel refreshed, don’t feel like I even missed out on much and play less but still feel like I’ve gotten something for my time. Best of luck out there.
I feel this has more to do with gaming / online communities as a whole than it does to do with WoW specifically. People just don’t approach games, particularly multiplayer games, in the same way they might have back in 2010 or whatever.
It’s unhealthy… did you miss that?
Who are you, and why are you announcing you’re departure?
Why settle for suck when you could actually play something fun? Do better.
You don’t need to justify when and why you want a break. If you’re not enjoying the game, don’t play it.
There’s too many games out there to waste paying a subscription on a game you do not enjoy.
More than likely, yes. But i feel you on the community comments. But its not going to get any better. This game houses some of the worst types of people ive ever come across. I just ignore them and do my own thing. One day it might be better.
The gear treadmill doesn’t interest me anymore either and the upgrades feel super marginal.
There’s just too many difficulties and too many versions of the same item.
If the Anniversary Realms/SoD weren’t around I definitely wouldn’t be subbed right now. I lost interest in TWW back in late October.
