She could come back in 30 years, and it’d still be too soon.
She’s not the same Sylvanas that people liked before she became… whatever she is now.
Sylvanas was cool up until she became Warchief, and then the Jailor’s sidekick, it was all downhill for her starting with Legion.
She was better as a dark and brooding background character.

Well, Alleria is also a former Ranger General with dark powers shunned from her people. Kinda silly when you think about it. 
edit: Alleria is a captain. 
So, Gul’dan wasn’t actually a really important lore villain who had center-stage for two expansions? Or does his very famous (and popular transmog item) stick not count as a stick?
My main point, really, is that in a fantasy world built around magic, a guy with a stick can easily be on equal footing to a guy with a giant axe.

She was never ranger general, Sylvanas was RG during the second war already

My bad. Even the Ranger that leads Alleria Stronghold (hope that place isn’t forgotten) has the rank of captain. 
Guldan had a bunch of lore from the original games to the audio dramas with the AU one trying to prove hes not just like the original and is better, he was proving it to Sargaras and himself the entire expac until his head got looted by Illidaddy.
Hell he was even the villian of the Warcraft movie.
She was supposed to be but went to be with her human in the wars so the postion got earned by Sylvanas instead but technically you are correct she would have been ranger general

I’m expecting Sylvanas to return sometime during the Midnight expansion, when things are at their most dire.
I believe it’s possible (now that Blizz have announced their next three expansions) that we might not actually win The War Within, or if we do, then we end up making things much much worse to the point where the Army of Light arrive on Azeroth to take over, with Yrel leading the invasion.
At least, that’s my hope!
