Is it time to re-add certain Vanilla gameplay elements to Retail?

classic is classic because its outdated… lets not try to bring anything back from it for retail

If i must choice one thing is that levels feel impactful so the slower leveling would be the only thing i would entertain but even that classic is just to slow… maybe more along the lines of wod or mop speeds

Its not. Because they are bored of classic due to it being classic.

While you’re not wrong, I came in at the very end of Shadowlands after having not played since Cataclysm, so Torghast is a bit of a moot point for me, but with all the fancy Obleron enhancements, I find it to be in a different vein than those old Classic dungeons. Then again, it will always be hard for them to make something that captures the feeling that the first dungeons did, what with them being wrapped up in nostalgia.

Then go play ff14, WoW clearly isn’t the game for you.

You can’t go home again.

Retail is already a dead game. It’s a waste of developer time and money.

People who play retail will play any version of WoW. people who play classic expect higher quality. So if only classic existed it would be better for the game overall.

Classic wow is an RPG, and leveling is the point of the game. In modern WoW the RPG aspect is on the back burner, with leveling just being a means to getting to the new endgame activities. It’s just 2 different games now. Modern wow is battle simulator, get better loot, repeat, and then new battles come out every 3 months. Classic wow is an ancient game that is the long immersive leveling experience.

They will sooner make a new game from scratch based on classic than update retail to be more like classic.

Adding water means we are going back to vanilla style resource management. No thanks.

As for the main idea of this thread, Classic serves this purpose. Want to deal with running out of ammo on a hunter, warlock shards, drinking water every couple mob pulls etc that’s what Classic is for.

ONLY reason I would support this is I know there would be tree loads of hanging Elvin hunters. Unfortunately we’d lose a lot of likeable races as well. So I have to agree with this non-OP but OP to me.

Make guns sound like guns again!

We were all having fun and then you show up and remind everyone their taxes are due.

lmao.

As fun as it’s been traveling down memory lane with Season of Discovery and trying out classes I never played before Cata/MOP, I wouldn’t want to bring any of those old features back from the dead in retail.

Way too many things from the old days were just massive inconveniences that did more to impede people’s enjoyment rather than make the game better. Ammo for ranged weapons? Constantly needing to supply reagents for spells? Warlocks needing an entire bag dedicated to Soul Shards? No thanks. Those things can stay in Classic and don’t need to be revived in Retail.

You mean you don’t want to ask the max level warrior in your party if he can go tank for this dungeon, just to find out he never did the quest that unlocks tank stance?

No, I’m leveling a SoD paladin right now and that game play can stay there and retail can stay the way it is too.

You can go play Classic if you want that old style gameplay.

I was there at the start and have 400+ days played during Classic era while it was relevant. Those mechanics and systems changed over time for a reason because the game had to evolve over time so it didn’t get stale plus people constantly complained about it along the way.

I’m sorry, the game shouldn’t regress just because you’re feeling nostalgic over clunky game play mechanics. That’s extremely selfish and regressive behavior and not fair to the player base as a whole.

People keep saying its regressive, yet its still very popular… idk, I don’t think millions of people playing it and being on par with the flagship game means its regressive. If blizzcon is any indication there were far more people excited for season of discovery than world soul saga, that’s pretty sad.

Wt Holy F LoL opposite day

What? LOL. Retail is the better game overall. It’s dead because three expansions have been announced with one of the original creative forces behind it?

Yea look how desperate they are to relaunch retail. It’s dead.

Whatever helps you sleep at night, playing the bot-laden Classic. Retail is alive and well, my guy. But do go enjoy your copium on how good old content is in an actually dead game.
