Is it time to move on from the holy trinity of game play?

Which is funny, because Aug’s mere existence has made 5-mans even worse.

Yeah but there have been posts on GD of ppl saying they tank in delves. I enjoy healing in them too myself tbh.

These are good points. From the very beginning it has been an odd role. You need 1 per every 5 people in dungeons and 1 per every 10 (sometimes 20+) in raids.

This what drove me crazy when I tanked. Everyone wants you for dungeons and no one needs you in raids.

That’s easily fixed. Blizzard just won’t do it.

They have no problem with adding constant AoE damage to every raid fight, just to create Full Employment for healers. But they refuse to do it for tanks.

That’s true about literally everything in WoW these days.

PvE? Go play Elden Ring, Monster Hunter, Deep Rock Galactic, or even something like Diablo.

PvP? Go play League of Legends, Overwatch or Deadlock, Call of Duty, etc.

Pet Battles? Pokemon is right there.

Transmog? Final Fantasy 14.

WoW is just a lobby game full of mini-games (world quests, overworld content) at this point.

It kinda always was like that too, but back in 2004-2009 we didn’t have all these other options like we do now.

PvE back then was cutting-edge. These days, it’s pretty stale and it shows lmao.

I am unaware of a game that does large-scale PvE (i.e. raids) better than WoW.

Tell me you never played Vanilla through Wrath without telling me.

This thread has brought out some of the worst ideas.

Its weird because I think it would be extremely easy to add a variety of mechanics to need additional tanks in a raid. And I think it would be largely looked on in a positive light.

Seems like an easy win.

Other MMOs, generally.

Sure, the parties might not be as big, but imo they are generally better at “spectacle” because the technology is simply better.

WoW is mostly starting at the bosses feet lol.

Give us Shaman Tanks!

Could try 2+ player flex dungeons with no tank or heals required somehow

Old Republic Ops are actually well done.

So… delves?

Nah still dungeons but 2+ players, or maybe 3+ minimum I guess.

No tank or heals required :open_mouth:

What is the difference between a delve and a 2-player dungeon?

Except Brann, who can easily be disposed of.

So… delves?

:stuck_out_tongue:

Noooo dungeons for 2+ players! :dracthyr_shrug:

falls to floor crying

Ehhhhhh, idk about this. FF14 don’t even have a cloak slot lol.

OK let me rephrase, “I don’t have to tank for groups anymore”. Yeh tanking in delves is great, but you can solo that, you can run 2-5 player groups, you don’t need to find a tank for delves and tanks don’t need to find a healer and DPS.

Delves have 100% taken away players from group content, I don’t think Blizzard really took 2 thoughts about the fringe players who only tanked because it made getting to their end game faster, add in that delves get you to the same iLVL that an M7 does, which for many players is equivalent for around M15 of old and that’s perfectly fine for them and that’s part of the problem.

Blizzard tried to make solo content for the solo, WQ player, but it took away other players also and made matters worse.

We should delve deeper into these 2+ player dungeons.

off the bat, the alternative to 2+player dungeons has a way easier name to call it by.
