Well, take solace in knowing World PvP is still RP-PvP friendly for you.
Rated BGs are already cross faction; now we need normal BGs to be cross faction.

outside of Strife Quests (which is everyone-vs-everyone), world PvP almost doesnt exist anymore
Some of us do enjoy crushing an opposing faction for the sake of it. Rated PvP is focused on competition, while random BGs is a continuation of the feud between the Alliance and the Horde. Cross-faction randoms would remove the reason behind its existence.
While youâre right that strife quests are free for all areas, you can still find plenty of the opposing faction (phase dependent) just out in the world in the Dragon Isles. I find tons of Alliance on Sargeras phases in Azure Span near the Furbolgs. Thereâs usually a large group of farmers, and killing them usually riles everyone up.
Could also go to Durotar and stir things up there with a raid of your friends.
Thatâs nice and all, but I donât think the rest of us should have to suffer just for a small portion of the player base who like to RP. Also, the Warcraft lore doesnât even support most faction conflict in those zones at the moment. Itâs been⌠What, 4 years post Shadowlands? And the Horde and Alliance have been at peace.
The way I look at things, battlegrounds donât support faction feud anymore. I wouldnât be opposed to brawls being faction feuded though, and staying faction only, as some of those brawls sound like it could support the faction feud still. (such as Cooking Impossible or Southshore vs Tarren Mill)
Besides this being the only ânegativeâ thing, it would bring about so much more positives. Lower queue times, more competition, and less complaints about âHorde/Alliance always loses!!1â
BGs are not the place for RP. Go do WM or form your own RP arena teams.
no
merc mode exists
use it.
Just make it red team and blue team, mix the queues exactly like rated bgs. Long overdue.
It makes no sense and serves no purpose at all to remove the faction divide in the mode that is about factions fighting. There is a reason this mode is not competitive. You can use merc mode to fix the queue problem already. There are less premades than there used to be and they would still be farming those on each side that arenât part of their premade. This is the type of @#$! that would literally kill WoW, yes lets remove the faction conflict entirely such a brilliant idea because you donât want to use merc mode.
Go play dota or something please.
Queue times
More about beating other players, but go on.
Donât see how thatâs relevant
Faction imbalance
you make it sound as if I have a VIP queue or something
I wait 6-10min queues as much as everyone else.
Fly to Stormwind and visit our Auction House or the Mage Tower sometime.
Then come back to me to share more about this âpeaceâ you speaketh of
Lower queue time - yes.
More competition? 10v10 = 10v10 regardless of the composition.
Less complaints? Players will always find something to complain about. Itâll shift from that to other aspects of the BG which give one side an advantage over another. Because most of them are about that, not about the faction.
I really like the sound of mixing the faction in the queues just to ease up on the times of day which Horde and Alliance tend to dominate. BG wins are split 50/50 but if you look at the times which those wins occur, there would %100 be a trend.
It would be cool then if maybe the weekly brawl was still faction based. Just to leave it as more of a faction v faction wargame, and have that competitive nature stand. Maybe even have a weekly leaderboard for it to see which faction comes out on topâŚ
Just some fun thoughts. Personally I am all for the game being more homogenized faction wise.
Now that you mention it. It could be introduced through brawls
Horde waitâs 2-3 minutes at the moment. Last expansion, we had to wait 12-15 minutes because it was heavy Horde. Thereâs been a shift though ever since cross faction and with the announcement of Orc racial being ânerfedâ with the Gladiatorâs Distinction set bonus when DF launched.
There is peace, lore wise. It doesnât matter what faction feud you have with players. That can still exist in WPvP which is fine gameplay wise.
Faster queues = more games. More games = more competition. Itâs not hard to grasp.
Thatâs a skill problem at that point though. Take this expansion for instance - at the beginning, Horde were complaining that most games they got into were stompfests because Alliance were much more geared than us. Alliance had a buff that increased their honor gains from BGs, and because of that, were able to buy PvP gear faster than Horde.
Something like that wouldnât have happened if cross faction queueing existed. It would never happen actually in future expansions. Sure, youâll still have teams that are more geared than another, but it wonât be because of Alliance or Horde getting more Honor than the other. Itâd be mixed.
It makes plenty of sense. Lorewise, we arenât even in a war. Weâre in peaceful times, havenât fought in 4 years post Shadowlands, and Dragonflight is lead by explorers, not through any Horde/Alliance military.
Maybe we should look at ourselves as mercs rather than soldiers.
Faction conflict (the likes of which is spelled out in the OG BGs) hasnât be relevant since Vanilla. Nobody is playing unranked pvp for the Lore.
Theres deep lore and then theres just basic fantasy of fighting an actual enemy instead of red vs blue nonsense. mobas are waiting for you.
Nah Iâm good on the MOBA thing, Iâm not a big fan of the genre. But I do enjoy WoW pvp, so Iâll keep my fingers crossed that we finally get cross-faction unranked pvp since we have crossâfaction everything else now.
That âdeep loreâ is water under the bridge. Current lore dictates Alliance and Horde arenât fighting and they havenât been for 4 years since the end of Shadowlands.
Iâd be fine with keeping Brawls as Faction v Faction only, but random BGs now should be cross faction.
Itâs completely silly that crossfaction BGs arenât a thing. Just hindering the game so much at this point. Even Rated is cross faction.
Lots on the new island, Forbidden Reach.
Not to mention lorewise those battles are long since over and settled. Let me play my human with my undead and blood elf bros in randoms thanks.
