Is it so hard for blizzard to create bgs according to your gs? im tired of losing due to gs being 2.6-3k

well basically i just want to know why blizzard havent implement this at the same time they were releasing the lvl 80 boosted purchase. i dont hate losing a bg. what i hate is to lose due to my team average gs is 2.7k the 2-3 guys with 5.5k gs just cant carry that hard a 10v10

I imagine it wouldn’t be hard, since it would be more or less the same system as using MMR for rated bgs/arenas just with a different parameter. But doing so would likely make BG queues significantly longer depending on how broad the range was or more likely if there weren’t enough people in each bracket it would just use a larger range and you would run into the same issue.

how long would the queue could be if implemented? i dont mind to wait 10-15 if i get a decent team. i dont think the queue will go to 1hr queue.

well first of all putting people into brackets depending on their gear would only reduce the number of opportunities for all. Suddenly BG pools become a lot smaller and less activity is the result.

Second, your demand has been voiced and nullified by the community in the past. You want to meet people with equal GS in your BGs? Alright, how does the system evaluate your gearscore in order to place you accordingly? Blizzards take (and a logical one IMO) was to let the system make a snapshot of your gearscore when you queue for PvP.

People simply equipped lesser gear, waited for the BG to pop up and re-equipped their actual gear before clicking accept or while waiting for the BG to start. The outcome has been seal clubbers tricking the system with the same results as before.

-losing because random bg’s filled with Bots
-losing because rabdom bg’s got some fresh level 80boosted characters

it’s called “Random bg” for a reason…you queue and it will fill with random classes/speces/gear if you want to take it seriously wait few months and play Rated bg’s.

MMO PVP is not balanced and shouldn’t be balanced. Should just be chaos.

You’re best bet at balance is arena, and even then it won’t ever be really balanced. If you want balanced and fair PVP, you should play a game that specializes in PVP.

If the system uses your gear you wear to determine that then guess what I’m doing?

I’m going to equip my crap from TBC and then click equipment manager and proceed to dominate 10 players… sounds like a fun way to honor farm…

Unfortunately sounds like its working as intended. Gear based pvp games are never designed to be fair/equal and the people with higher level gear like queuing into BGs with low geared people.

Destroying lowbies is part of the mmo pvp experience.

One of the problems with wow pvp is that the initial gear is not balanced. For one thing we have players looking to grind rep in vanilla era, players looking to get some exp in av with its quests. Or in tbc/wrath fresh players looking to get a weapon with ok stats. While in a wow pvp game the gear can vary alot more than other pvp games where fair quick in and out pvp is the focus.

Which is why we often have pvp gear ratios get more even over time. There is also a money elemental as well since pvp in wrath and later expansions can have alot of money in it, and people are always looking to game the system for easy rng free gear.

Why shouldn’t MMO pvp at least aspire to be balanced? I don’t get this mentality. WOW is the only MMO that has a real pvp scene, small as it is. They should feel the responsibility to carry the torch for the genre.

There’s nothing quite like MMO pvp, it really hits different for some of us. Can’t just say, oh you should just play CS or League. That’s a completely different type of game.

Because it’s an RPG. Unfair advantage is built in for the people who have played longer. A fresh 80 who has equal skill to an 80 who has been pvping all season is just going to lose.

And every pvp’er just seems okay with that. Gotta grind a few hours and take your lumps before you can start getting some resilience gear and start surviving a bit more.

And if you suggest normalized stats and gear level for an even playing field, veterans will scoff at the notion, claiming they earned their gear and deserve to use it. And even better iLvl gear is locked behind rating, not just cosmetic gear.

I mean, a person who can’t reach that arena rating isn’t going to make use of the higher ilvl anyways, but it still feels bad being locked out of iLvl differences.

It’s fun to Chimera Shot a Mage with 2.5k GS and 8000 HP. They just evaporate.

Those players could also just do wintergrasp for like a week before queueing for other BGs and have a ton of honor gear + buy cheap BOEs. If they’re going to have gear 2 seasons behind they are going to get smoked.

I joined in P3 of Wrath Era with full TBC gear at 80 and with WG/BOEs/Beta heroics it took me 2 days to hit 4.5k. I didn’t even have much gold.

to answer the question posed in the subject: yes, it is so hard.

First of all ilvl and gearscore are terrible metrics for pvp gear. Resilience might not feel that good when you have 3 people attacking you at once, but you can definitely tell when you’re attacking someone and they have no resilience.

The bigger problem is match making if you split up lvl 80 bgs in to different ilvl brackets then it will take longer to fill and longer to match against a team in the opposing bracket.

On top of that people would absolutely attempt to game the brackets. (Before anyone says it yes RDF does limit you by bracket but there’s no incentive in RDF to game the system by trying to only be eligible for normal dungeons :stuck_out_tongue: )

The first problem would be people queuing with the lowest ilvl gear they can equip and then switching to higher ilvl gear in the BG. So then you say ok no switching gear after you’ve entered the queue, but now warriors, paladins, and shaman can’t switch to 1h and shield when focused and people can’t switch out their pvp trinket that is on cool down for another trinket that is not on cool down. Maybe you find some kind of way to resolve that.

Then you have people gaming the system by wearing lower level pvp gear with game bis weapons and trinkets so they’re just eeking into to very top of the lowest bracket while wearing shadowmourne and heroic deathbringer’s will, or more annoyingly being afraid to equip better gear for fear of being pushed up into the bottom of a higher bracket.

With that said yes it does feel bad to load in and find you have 5 people with sub 16k hp on your team, but if i’m honest it seems to me like more often than not this evens out with the number of boost bots on the opposing team.

But if you really wanna level the playing field i would suggest a much simpler solution: "boosted characters cannot enter BGs until they’ve logged at least 72 hours of game time ( and the 72 hour number could be modified depending on how effective that is )

RDF has this “solved” by taking your iLvl of all your highest gear on your character, in your bag, and in your bank. You should be able to queue for a heroic gamma naked if you wanted, as long as you own iLvl210 and above.

The gear differential is a baked in imbalance that pretty much everyone accepts but in terms of class design and mechanics the game is tailored to be balanced in PVP. Remember 60 second polymorphs in Vanilla? That’s more impactful in a pvp scenario than someone having 500 more gs than you.

Can’t wait to que up in level 70 gear to get into low gs random bgs then switch to my actual gear to stomp low geared players.

Honestly RBGs and an mmr system would probably be better than a gs based system.

The 80 boost would have been a perfect time to separate players based on GS, but this incredibly obvious move was, like most things, too much work for Blizzard. They’re happy to copy/paste/sell something but don’t want to do actual work to benefit the game.

Totally wrong. Horde has far more boosts/bots on it. This is the biggest problem for horde. If the deadweights were separated out into their own queue, the good horde at the top could actually compete. The alliance, which has far less boosts/bots plaguing it, would be the ones to suffer from a separation.

You’re not losing BGs because of brackets or gearscore. You’re losing BGs because you picked Horde.
