Is it possible to *ignore* a classic forum poster?

Just don’t read what they have to say? It’s really that easy. I’ve never understood how people have such a hang up with having to hide someone. You can’t do that irl, so why do you need to do that on a video game forum? Just skip what they say, don’t read it, and don’t reply?

Yes.

You can’t ignore or avoid people in real life?

I guess I have been doing things wrong.

You had to have been. Functioning in teams or groups as an adult at work will not allow you to ignore or mute someone. We have no choice but to hear things we don’t like as an adult.

You’re just not trying hard enough.

In a non-work place setting I will definitely not associate with people I don’t like.

The forums are not work.

I didn’t call this work.

How do you hide them at work?

Most workplaces have limitations on what people can and cannot say. This normally eliminates most hot button topics

So in a workplace you maintain mandatory communication while remaining professional.

You make it sound like these are crazy ideas

Yes it is.

  1. Click your profile pic
  2. Click the right(preferences) tab. Looks like a tiny person.
  3. Click on preferences again which should be the 4th option.
  4. Then you should see a drop down menu that says “Account, Notifications, categories, Users, interface” & click on users.
  5. You’ll see a box with “Add” underneath it so click on add & put in the user name & server (I’ll give myself as an example which would be Sernius-Garrosh)then select the duration you want to ignore them.

I have to add people from time to time so I don’t get banned for what I’ll say to them & this works for those people who like to hide their profiles.

LOL basically this.

People need to stop trying to prove one version is better than another and just play what they enjoy. This is why some have issues with Classic posters.

We just need some Classic players to stop being so obnoxious about an old version of the game, as if it’s cool to rub it in someone’s face that they like playing a different version of a game. People have options. Options are good. All of this “HAHA WE HAVE THIS OLD VERSION HAHA RETAIL SUCKS HAHA GAME NEEDS TO BE LIKE CLASSIC” stuff is just getting old at this point.

My employees are mostly grown men. The moment one of them told me they cannot work with another one due to being offended or being upset because of something someone else said they’d be looking for a new job. I’ve yet to have this complaint.

I’ve never held a position at a company that has conversation rules for their employees, aside from harassment rules, obviously.

Right? Classic & TBC classic are the braindead versions of the game. Maybe once WOTLK classic comes out I’ll say they have a point, but right now you could probably train monkeys to play classic & TBC classic.

Well, go into a public meeting and start a debate about how the company is trash, politics, or LBGT representation, etc…

And see how it goes.

Nope. They’ll make sure you know they’re a Classic player too.

It’s because the live for the days they can try and be cool and edgy talking trash about retail. Don’t worry, Retail will still be the most popular. It was funny how thee Classic posters disappeared 3-4 months after Classic launched because servers were becoming ghost towns and knew they couldn’t talk trash anymore. Same will happen with BC in a few months.

I’m going to assume this whole thread is about someone who likes to stick their toes into every thread.

No matter how well manicured your feet are, you don’t continue to stick them in everyone’s face.

So the gamer version of vegans then.

Which has nothing to do with the topic at hand. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

There is a time and place for every conversational topic.

That’s… not where I was going with that at all. >.>

Have you been on the forums?

These topics are brought up all the time.

The OP wanting to ignore someone probably falls into one of those 3 categories

My bad I’m harsh with how I say things a lot of the time. That’s why I try not to post as much & I mute certain threads now.

I don’t think they absolutely need to, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want to make use of a feature Blizz provides for them if it makes their experience better.
