Is it possible for Hunters to have their Runes reworked?

I cant test any further as the servers just shut down, but i have genuinly no idea how your is doing so much damage, my chimera serpent sting proc hasnt gone above 20 once. Maybe you are bugged? as the rest of us have similar numbers, and you are the outlier.

Mana management is a staple of classic. Pace yourself, make sure you get a few ticks of mp5, get some intel on your gear, don’t sleep on spirit either.

You don’t got to press the button just because you “can”, slow down on fights where you’ll need the mana, it’ll pay in the end.

I’m sorry did you mention Spirit for a hunter? You must be trolling…

I said 40 out of the top of my head, but the proper number is in fact 32 like Leoni mentionned.

It will always deal 32, since it’s 40% of 80 (total damage of SS). But that burst can crit, which is where I get 64. It also means that talents improving critical hits damage (Mortal shot / Humanoid Slaying) will affect it.

Okay, but mana management literally just means only autoing for the entire fight outside of refreshing stings. I could do that, or I could just run BM and do more damage overall because it has 100% uptime and I can cast multi-shot at will which does the same damage. That is the problem with the runes.

Nyss seems to be completly missing the point of this thread, we were talking about useless boring runes and hes talking about our DPS, we know our DPS is fine

I don’t think so, just waiting a tick of mp5 between shots allows you to press many more shots over the duration of a fight. On longer ones, yes you will likely get “oom” but, you’ll always have enough mp5 to refresh SS with a chimera and even a Multi-shot here and there.

Well, perhaps I am missing the point, I’ll stop after this one.

I think the runes are not as flashy as other classes, but they make up for a much more enjoyable experience than era. shrugs

mine hits for 32 as well

do you chimera on cooldown, lined up with multi shot or just when the sting is about to fall off?

It’s the fact that our most effective DPS Runes are Passives, you cannot deny that Chimera and Explosive perform way worse than the BM rune, so for people that want to maximize DPS, we have no choice other than the “classic era” play style of just "send pet and autoshoot/multi shot

I personally have not found a way to use CS in BFD in a way that would make me want to pick it over BM. I want to use it, and I do use it single target for short fights, but it seems not worth the press most of the time. And that’s one of the better runes. People have done the math on our other ones. They provide very little DPS. Some, like Lone Wolf, cause us to lose DPS over running a pet. They need to be looked at.

I think it’s just R2 Serpent Sting you’ve got, but at the same time I don’t think you’re wrong about it being weak. 32 is little different than 16, and Chimaera Shot is super weak compared to others’ abilities.

Early in the fight, I go all in:

  • Serpent Sting :: Auto-shot :: Aimed-shot :: Queue Multi-shot :: Chimera
  • Auto-Shot for a few MP5 ticks
  • Aimed-shot on CD and refresh sting with chimera when it’s about to fall

I don’t remember if the mana usage from aimed shot is before the cast or when the shot fire, if its after the shot, lining up aimed > multi > chimera would grant us 2s of mp5 every 10 seconds, it can help mana management in the long fights

I have been using Explosive in dungeons. You get a good Shaman tank, they pull an entire room, I was getting CRAZY dps with explosive and multi. It doesn’t have a limit on how many mobs it can hit, so 20 dudes all exploding nonstop was massive. Other then that though…yeah. Its useless.

You’re not wrong about the BM rune being more “efficient” as far as input/result goes. I will agree that it is a very simple and easy way to get decent DPS.

However, I feel like the more geared one becomes, the more they will gain by going the “active” route and using Shots.

Personally I was using it to lightly tap boss adds for rep in Ashenvale, but that was the only use I found.

Correct.

Hunters are pretty much pigeon-holed into Sniper Training, Lion Aspect or Master Marksman(good early on at least), and Beast Mastery. Now we’re pigeon holed into Serpent/Cat until they nerf Serpent even further… then it’s just Cats. Evnetually they’ll hit Cats too. Maybe they’ll just delete the damn class since they can’t make up their mind and some other class can suffer constant nerfs or adjustments. On top of that, it’s overall better to just be a BM Hunter because that’s clearly the direction the runes are going considering most of the runes are pretty garbage. Most runes feel Retail-esque or even Supplemental but I guess that’s the point of the season is to mess around despite it being tidbits from another version of WoW.

ES is perfect at catapult when Horde are rooted in place and you get that massive explosion of ticks.

Baseline ability please.
