More and more often BGs are absolute blowouts one way or the other. I have few games that are even contested. Either the other time is completely demolishing ours, or the reverse. Why is that? What’s contributing to it? I know that’s always been a thing but I do not ever remember it being so prominent.
“Go next” mentality, I guess? I know that if I pop into an Ashran late and see 15 people just die instantly at the ROC clash then I have a pretty good idea of how the rest of the game is going to play out.
Handful of people leave, a couple soft-afk, and then there’s the original reason as to why things went poorly early on (worse play, less gear, bad specs, whatever).
because too many BGs launch where one team’s healers have 400k hp and maxxed out conquest gear while the other team’s both have 200k hp in greens while keyboard turning
BGs need to be cross-faction with a tighter matchmaking criteria in order not to waste everyone’s time, stomps aren’t fun

With enough experience, you can usually tell how the match is going to go in the first ~3 minutes of the match
That’s for pugs-vs-pugs BGs anyway, premades/premaders are different since those can actually regroup and stage a comeback (if the start of the match/opener goes south). Uncoordinated pugs only have one good teamfight/one big push in them and if it doesn’t work people give up
Ashran backdoor pug strat is a perfect example of this, the strat has “spread” in the minds of pugs recently - but when it doesn’t work out/fails people immediately start leaving and the ones who don’t just give up and sort of stand around until it’s over
No, that’s a separate issue.
Only fifteen? Hell I did one yesterday where we destroyed at least twenty-five of them right off the bat. ![]()
It’s pretty much always been that way. I admit I didn’t really play much in Cata, WoD, or Legion, but have played since 2005. The reason is simple, Blizzard allows to much variation in player character power and has always allowed premades to feast on groups of randoms. After a certain point you just have to assume it is intentional.
tightening up matchmaking criteria would slow down queue times
enabling cross-faction would alleviate that
the issues are directly related

Sounds like you’re looking for rated battlegrounds which already exist.
People have figured out the best strats and the better geared team will win it.
Just finished a Ashran where we won the ROC fight , got the AA which some Feral Druid grabbed. We went back summoned Rock Man and got to their mage where the AA Druid proceeded to run right into the alliance and got destroyed . An Ally Hunter grabs the AA and proceeds to massacre us . Rock boy dead and we were back in our base , 8-35 down . Then suddenly Ally AA Hunter has brain fade gets too close to us and loses AA. Warlock Horde grabs it and with Chaos Bolts flying everywhere we win game , 6-0 . ![]()
