Is it just me?

Couldn’t have said it better myself, I wouldn’t mind shelfing Demonology if affliction and destro weren’t tedious to play. And I would reroll to a new class but honestly it’s the same issue everywhere, you can’t escape the fact that classes are so muddle down nowadays. Nothing has depth, not even the systems to implement every expansion.

and “button bloat” removal

this. x9.
it truly feels like we lost our soul… shards…

It doesn’t even need to be a drastic revamp, like why doesn’t destro use burning embers like it used to? Does blizzard think the players are really that dumb and can’t understand a new resource for a class that functions the exact same as the previous. It’s honestly mindboggling

I’m also so glad I can say piss here.

Pissy pissy piss piss piss.

I’m gonna’ unofficially refer to the current Game Director as ‘Piss-boy’.

I’m no game developer, but if a core part of your game is what class you play. I believe each class should have a designer so it can steer in a projected direction that the player base approves of. At this point, I almost believe that World of Warcraft’s sound team is larger than it’s class team.

Neither is the Game Director. :eye: :eye:

I’m still grinding my axe from the Demonology quote from years ago.

Hire more class designers ffs! It honestly doesn’t take a genius, I might actually start paying for the game again. Because hell, I would certainly enjoy this expansion more if they said “damn our bad that your class blows, we’ll try our best to fix it as soon as we can”

Why design a class when you can design infinite systems to replace class growth every two years??

It pains me that I need to shelf WoW for the second time. Dealing with BFA was already painful enough but now I have to play shadowlands? The content can be the best the game has ever seen but if my class sucks to play I am just not going to resub. I honestly don’t even play the game anymore, I only post on the forums. And once my sub expires I can’t even voice my complaints here.

Good call.

I think a few specs turned out pretty good. I dont like Balance much at all now, but like the MM changes.

On one hand, the “Rotation” thing is REALLY hard to dig oneself out of in MMOs. It’s existed even before modern MMOs. Everquest had clicky rotations, AA rotations, even spell rotations for certain classes simply because of alternating cooldown timers or individual spell interactions.

Rift used to have good class design, stopped having good class design around the second expac but at least there was still more to do with it.

I actually enjoy Priest and Druid more in Classic than I do on live, though, because while you have an obvious optimal rotation, there are things you can do well on the side.

The real issue with the modern MMO to me, in terms of creative class design, seems to be the sharp turn away from crowd control/support builds and becoming overly reliant on raw DPS and HPS, leading to the desire for much more compact rotations.

As for the FF14 comment specifically, DPS works a bit differently there, especially once you get higher level or are working yourself towards the highest ends of content possible. It still has the rotational pattern, especially for DPS, but you are also timing specific steps of the rotation against your oGCD skills, something that you really don’t see in most of the remaining “big” MMOs.

Action Combat is really the only way to move away from a rotation-driven mindset, most MMOs are TECHNICALLY Turn Based, to boil it down to basic RPG systems. There is not enough in a modern Turn Based MMO to break down the rotational build up, and group/raid strategies are often designed around “predicting” the breakdowns that do exist.

Boss throws up a conal AoE? Alright, all DPS just need to make sure they’re at the flanks/side. Boss occasionally uses a tailswipe to shake up that strategy? Set a GINA call or a RaidAlert to time for the swipe. Even when pugging, you have at least 10 seconds from the visual cue to reply to the Tailswipe so it should be fine.

Action style combat tends to be more erratic, harder to time, and relies on snap relfexes so a rotational mindset can’t take root. They still fail to really diversify to allow for support/CC in extreme measures though.

they dont even have to " fix " anything. just revert the class. we all make mistakes… legion warlock was a mistake.

Hush your mouth!

I SHALL NOT!
i speak the truth! they decimated affliction. spat upon demonology. extenguished my most beloved destro.

I did VERY well as affliction in Legion…and loved it.

i wont deny that it was " fun " near the end.
but at the start/trial of valor target soul target dummy for damage was not enjoyable. at the end we got aoe bombardments but… was that really fun on single target? naaaaa
back track 1 patch before. soul shatter soul swap multi targeting dot management. truly the best playstyle for affliction.

I would agree, I think shamans and shadow priest had a really good go this expansion. My problem is that is all the big changes we will see for the next two years. It isn’t enough! The game has 36 spec’s and we get 3 redesigns if we’re lucky? That just isn’t enough, I mean mist weavers have been begging for changes for years and blizzard literally ignores them.
