lol in my experience it’s always older people online acting like a victim.
The internet should always have remained anonymous… words are just words and people should not be held accountable for what they say online.
Just don’t go to reddit at all, honestly.
Reddit as a whole is pretty much a breeding ground for toxicity. The upvote/downvote system is used as an “agree”/“disagree” system, and this leads only to conformity, and can easily be maniupulated.
It’s the perfect tool for political and corporate propagandists. Do you really think guns, GMOs, nuclear power and Five Guys burgers are actually that passionately loved by young people?
PR agencies are hired by corporations and governments, who spend millions of dollars influencing opinions on reddit and other social media platforms. It’s way more cost-effective to these entities than, for example, TV commercials, when it comes to indoctrinating young people into brand or issue loyalty.
Of course, if you mention this to most social media users, they tend to get personally offended, which is weird. It’s just basic economics. Advertising has always worked. Manipulating conformity on social media platforms works even better.
its only not anonymous if you want it to be. nobody is forcing you to be who you are in real life. I can be 40 years old or 12 years old, it doesn’t matter and you’ll never know.
such is leddit
just delete your leddit account now while you’re still questioning the website
honestly the classic WoW reddit represents the real WoW community, not these censored forums.
the problem (if you see it as one) isn’t restricted to just those Classic WoW forums. it’s all of them.
throwawayaccounts, no accountability, and lax mods. all tends to result in the most freedom of expression.
Would you quit acting like the classicwow subreddit is not censored. They literally brag about their censorship.
Hate to break it to you but the forums here are no better, only difference is you can’t downvote.

I had a post here once about how the goalposts about predictions of doom for classic wow were constantly being moved. Apparently, enough retailers reported the post and I got an auto-ban for one week. I felt it was unjust and opened a ticket. A CM reviewed my post and agreed there was nothing wrong with my post and lifted the ban.
On the subreddit, someone JOKINGLY called me a na-zi and I, playing along with the joke, repled ‘Sig Heil!’. I was banned for that, no appeal.
Yeah, they’re different. The mods here are definitely better.
Is that a joke OP?
This forum is a way bigger hellhole than /r/classicwow
It’s pretty much like posting on the General discussion forums without having the opinion that BFA is amazing and Blizzard cannot do any wrong.

I’ve been banned twice from there… the second time permanently. The first time I got banned was literally because a laughed off someone jokingly calling me a na-zi (they however didn’t get a ban for that), and the second time I was in a debate about moonkin dps and I had some rough words for someone who had been insulting me because I was pointing out that mathematically moonkin dps is super bad.
How about this 3-day Classic WoW forum ban?

Why don’t you go for a walk outside or something, Forum Lord? I supported my arguments with valid examples, you just don’t like them because you have come to a different conclusion than I have. If I may say so, I am mature enough to understand this whereas you are not. -------------------

-Get down voted into oblivion for saying the WoW token shouldn’t be in WoW Classic
I find this hard to believe. I’ve not seen any community effort to actually have tokens “in” classic.
I’ve been on that sub for a while, none of those are really true.
And I’m surprised that you picked those things to rag on about, when there are so many other things they’re known for being toxic about that absolutely are true.
Think of what the forums are like right now. How, at times, so many people get outrageously mad toward the devs or outrageously defensive over design decisions the Classic team makes, no matter how large or small? Basically, that’s what both r/classicwow and r/wow are like, except with a large dash of art/nostalgia-pics redundancy.
Now, you might be asking, “why do I still go to that subreddit since you seemingly hate it so much?” Well, there aren’t really many dedicated places to talk about Classic WoW other than these forums, that subreddit, and that subreddit’s discord (which is honestly pretty damn good, it’s my main Discord server), so I’ll take what I can get.
The Classic subreddit definitely has issues, no question. It’s also worth pointing out, though, that both this forum and GD are also consistently cited on other WoW community sites for being toxic. I meant heck, before this latest forum software transition, the WoW forums were the only official Blizzard forums that abused downvoting so egregiously that the ability was taken away. Even now we have a serious problem with reports being used as downvotes.
The tricky thing about reddit is that toxicity isn’t a unilateral thing – there are some subreddits that have great communities that do awesome things. One example might be the Mechanical Keyboards subreddit, which has spearheaded countless community-driven fun and creative custom keyboard projects.
There is certainly a difference between subreddits dedicated to creativity and subreddits for everything else.
I’ve never actually checked out reddit. I’m old though. People sure talk about it enough. Maybe i’ll check it out. Hopefully, it’s not some sort of club or gang where I have to be beat in.
Seems to be pretty surprising to a lot of people but umm… Having people disagree with your opinions isn’t toxic. It happens here too, difference is there’s no downvoting. The act of being downvoted isn’t inherently toxic.

Only get beaten with Gnomes.
