Blizzard makes more money when you pay with gold, because somebody else paid $20 for you to play that month instead of the $15 you could have paid. They would love for you to keep subbing with gold lol

That’s fair. I guess it is harder for me to understand as I am more like your friends: I lack an emotional investment. I do, in a general sense, love the game, but at the same time it has never been a big deal/difficult for me to say “ok this isn’t fun right now” and going and playing something else for a few weeks, or months, or even a year once or twice. I guess ultimately I have never forced myself to continue to play to the point where I felt so burnt that I wanted to nuclear bomb the whole thing.
Either way, I hope you find something you enjoy whether that is another MMO or WoW making changes that are more in line with your desires.

I’m unsubbed. Just waiting for the last couple weeks to tick away. I won’t resub for BC or for 9.1.
If this is the game that the dev team wants to make, let them play it.
If BFA wasn’t enough, then nothing will be.

What? You mean free? Playing TBC classic is free.
If you want a collector’s edition or other services, then there are additional charges, like always.

the simple truth is that there are plenty of players that are totally fine with the current design
even after losing over 70% of slands buyers, the game is still #1-3 of all MMO’s and honestly it only loses #1 status for brief periods
while I totally agree that the game design has gone downhill, i.e. that current design goals are antagonistic tot he players, all bliz cares about these days is the money
the founders who cared about sharing an amazing game are long gone, nowadays it is all metrics to drive cash shop buy and that is literally all they share with shareholders
while I may selfishly hope that subs and revenue drop so low that they have to revert to the design during the peaks of wow, I fear that would really do nothing but make wow change to f2p and make the cash shop even more aggressive

Financially intelligent to charge alot.
They know SL is crap, and 9.1 is nowhere near ready.
As a result, you/they can expect a pretty large wave of TBC purchases just based on SL’s badness.
May as well overcharge people for it.
Not saying its morally correct, or that theyre looking out for their fans.
But, financially, yeah, i see why they would charge so much.
They know for a fact youre gonna buy it for that price, because your so danged bored in Shadowlands.
you dont have much choice.
Quit your addiction cold turkey, or pay 70$ for that high.
One of those is alot easier to do than the other.
Blizzard is counting on it
