I want to rush to max level with my hunter as fast as possible by questing , so i can make him gather materials for my main later and since i started out a few weeks ago, i am kinda low on gold. Hunters here use Mana for their attack and since, i used mostly white vendor gear, Mana is starting to become a real issue in maintaining. Gathering cloth is easier then leather so i was thinking while questing in open world i would makes cloth item, its not like i will be going melee anyway.
Your dps will suffer, but no big deal if you are just leveling I suppose.
This is probably only worth doing on the head/shoulder until you find better armor. But note that shoulders are cheap in the auction house thanks to leatherworking which actually skill dumps on some of the shoulders.
New players do not have heirlooms.
I mean sort of? You get a lot of leather from skinning
Don’t think there is a clear cut on whether farming cloth is easier than leather.
Starting level 20, you get Aspect of the Viper.
On my hunter, I have this little Macro I use for Aspect swapping. I got it keybinded on “G” for myself to make it super easy to swap.

Cloth with stats is absolutely superior to leather with no stats.
It wont be like that long, soon youll have all slots with agility and they will be leather and eventually mail.

If you’re looking to rush to cap I’d spend the badges to get heirlooms.
The biggest issue with cloth is you’d have the mana, but that’s it. No AP gains for you or your pet. You’d have mana, but you’d hit like a wacky waving inflatable tube man.
Get the weapon, shoulders, and chest. Fill the rest of your slots with AP/Agi quest rewards/dungeon drops.

Shoulder has a heirloom item. Could use the cloth heirlooms as i dont think herods or the shadow shoulders have intellect.
Honestly though aspect of the viper covers any mana issues which shouldnt be an issue if lvling as BM.

You are more than welcome to show up in your cloth to BGs and dungeons.
None of that is against the rules, no1 in a random queue setting is the armchair commander of that group, and if any of your group members have a problem with it, they’re more than welcome to leave the group.

As far as the gear is concerned, you’ll get leather and eventually mail and it’ll be more designed for your stats anyways over cloth.

Telling a hunter it’s ok to wear cloth is just flat out wrong. This entire game is math. There is no time that cloth plus hunter equals anything but fail. The capability from properly gearing will never be overcome by having more int and a bunch of wasted stats. Even solo questing; one correct item, and using their abilities, will blow away an entire cloth kit.
