What if it’s DKP, or MS>OS, or any other loot distribution system? Can you point to any documentation that you or anyone could read and reasonably deduce that posting loot distribution style should result in chat suspension or other in-game penalties?
Well yeah, and the rules are not clear. Indeed, they stated in the chat suspension message, “Check your email for more details.”
These are the details,
"Violation: Abusive Chat
Your fellow players reported you for abusive language multiple times."
If this is simply due to my use of LookingForGroup for guild/raid recruitment messages, then cool. Of course, I wish I would have been able to figure that out when I received a warning, and immediately posted on these forums to ask for help in understanding what the issue was.
The advice/answers I received were of no help in preventing me from getting suspended, which I think is unfortunate. Going forward, I’ll try using trade chat for guild/raid recruitment, even though that very much does not seem (intuitively to me at least) to be the correct chat channel for such activity. It is the advice that I’ve gotten from the Customer Service forums.
I hope I don’t get chat suspended or even account banned for doing that, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to know if I will.
It would be great if there were some official rules we could look at for reference.
I’m just rolling with the assumption you’re not wanting to read anything that isn’t aligning with how you think things operate.
It is not just those servers. People have been getting nailed for using LFG incorrectly for over a year now with more regularity. So kiss that presumption of fresh start servers out the window.
How about letting the players know after they join the group, if they don’t want to participate, they can leave. It’s easy enough to make a macro for it. It’s what we used to do a long time ago, it’s avoids the mess of advertising in the chat channels.
that is a terrible assumption lmao. “It’s what we used to do a long time ago” this old school mentality is what causing these false reports and bans. Because players don’t agree with new meta or new ways to play the game like gdkps.
It’s what we do now, and I’m not serving a game silence or suspension for advertising in the chat channels.
It’s not hard “We use “so and so loot system” If you don’t agree, you can leave”, Not a hard macro to make. It’s that old school mentality that keeps me out of trouble. Haven’t been silenced, suspended or banned at any time since I started playing in 2005.
“It’s what we used to do along time ago” - no. They let it slide in the beginning - which they never should have done. Had they cracked down on channel misuse from the get go, we wouldn’t be here now. Now, however, they are working to clean up the channel. So reports of people advertising runs or guilds or anything else that isn’t just plain dungeon or raid pugs are getting sanctioned.
Frankly, no one cares that much, so long as the rules are followed. You broke the rules by posting anywhere else but Trade. If you weren’t breaking the rules, you never would have gotten suspended.
Oh, I knew someone would bring up that chuckle head. All he did was verify that the squelch system worked, but what he didn’t tell you he got a few days suspension for abusing the report system. There is no “AutoBan”, put a sock in that nonsense.
To be fair, I will concede with the incorrect categorization of abuse of chat. In a perfect world, there would be a category of it’s own to help nudge players in the proper places of where they should be posting. And too, this also hinges greatly on what I said above in how Blizzard failed miserably in really coming down on people for channel misuse from the beginning. Here we are now in Wrath Classic and it’s only now finally gaining attention that hey! This is against the rules and you absolutely will get pinged on it eventually.
"Diamond GDKP - Naxx/Maly 25 Starting Sat Oct 15th at 11am. Naxx/Maly 10 Friday at 6pm. Looking for some guild Core members and Guests! Join our discord for info & sign ups: [discord info]"
Anyway, I’m not surprised that I was reported, because I’ve read the discussions around GDKP on these forums, and I know what some people think of it as a loot system.
If /Trade chat is the appropriate place to post guild recruitment then that’s fine. My only concern is that I have no idea if the information I’m getting from this Customer Service forum is accurate or trustworthy, and ultimately the only way I’ll be able to find out is by posting in /Trade and seeing if I get more penalties (and that sucks).
Perhaps take some self initiative and change the guild name. Not that difficult a leap. I rank that up there with the old Casino Guilds and Boosters Communities.
No, it’s people not wanting your advertisements cluttering up an already cluttered channel. Put it where it belongs, don’t go overboard with reposting your ad and you’ll likely never have to come here under the circumstances ever again.
Thumbing your nose at how other people prefer to play the game makes you even more guilty than those you’re railing about who you claim false flagged you.
