Takes 8 weeks now and you don’t have to worry about caps losing control - there is a static 500k / week honor cap.
At lower brackets the cap is lower.

You had weekly caps sometimes over 1 million honor per week back then, with full deranking decay active.
Now you just have to farm 500k near the end of your grind and you’ll be fine.
There is a “drop off” problem that seems to be flaring up as a result of people hitting 500k sooner than others, but we’ll see how that plays out.
I’ll be able to easily hit R14 with a full time job in this new system.

It’s easier to get than when classic first released and harder to get than it has been at times over the four years of Era (such as the sand grinding and ranking on servers like Sulthraze)

Easier because all you have to do is AFK AV - harder because it’s less fun because the only bg that is viable is AV.

A few weeks ago, while in silithus on my rogue, I tried to run a sand just to see what it was like. I got it about 15 yards before I dropped the stuff and moved on lol.
My respect goes out to the Sand Marshals - no reward is worth running sand to me.

I think the people who did it seriously, would sit at the turn-in and pay people per sand to run around and bring them back.
When you get like 5+ ppl running for you the hph can get pretty high I hear.
Prob not viable anymore with all the pvp happening though.
Sounds real expensive… Also F that.
My favorite time ranking is still Earthfury ally in the summer of 2020. The B1 cap was 600k and the stacks were perfect because people were working together and I met the most like-minded people ever some of whom I still talk to. We’d do WSG and AB and we’d cap by Friday so the whole weekend was off (this was with me having a full-time job too but I did admittedly have Tuesdays/Wednesdays as my days off)

No way you must have ranked with some of the people I played with, most of them ranked in the summer of 2020 as well (although I ranked after you and wasn’t part of the premades).
I wonder if you still have that EF ranking discord, there was some good stuff in there hahah
But ya I agree -the grind back then was less brutal than now since it was really fun to queue weave with some friends.

Very easy. Just play a mediocre amount for 8 weeks and you have rank 14. It’s going to destroy the PVP system. Now at week 8 the battlefield will consist entirely of rank 14s gatekeeping anybody from starting to rank who didn’t start at week one.
This will lead to nobody queuing and no games. Dead PVP system.
Hopefully they revert the changes since it’s basically retail light. I don’t play classic to play retail. If I wanted to play retail I would go play retail where everyone gets a trophy in PVP.

Right, which makes me scrutinize whether it’s even worth the effort to play SoM2. It’s not going to feel good dinging rank 14. Everyone and their mother will ding at the same time. It won’t be special and then there will be nothing else to do. Yay.
If you would have told me I wouldn’t be playing the next season of mastery, I would have laughed at you a year ago. But leave it to Blizzard.
I never even got rank 14 either. 13 was my highest and that was in vanilla. It was all about the journey and meeting people in the trenches. All that has been obliterated by this change. Now it’s just another prerequisite grind where you just ding rank 14 with literally everybody else and go raid. I don’t care about raiding. All I cared about was the honor system.

That’s awesome and probably. I did bracket lead back then for like 4 weeks.
I had access to that Discord for a long time but I lost my ally Discord account. 
Plus I think they removed a bunch of stuff and turned it into an “arena group finder” and later a “Benediction premade” Discord so I left.
