Is FF14 better for solo than Wow? For group/MMO stuff? Looking for honesty

If your playing it for solo play, then your playing what is essentially an always online single player game.

Which is awful that you have to stay connected to the internet to play a single player experience.

I play FFXIV solo. The Main Story Quest and practically everything outside of raiding can be done and enjoyed solo. The problem is when you want to do challenging solo content…because it doesn’t exist. The only real challenging content in XIV is raiding, so you’ll need to find a static (raid team) for that.

Try out GW2 or SWTOR. Those to me would be logical choices that would be more similar to WoW playstyle and everything is pretty much solo. I’ve never raided in SWTOR since I can make decent enough gear (though annoying) and you have a companion (healer, tank, dps, your choice), so even ‘hard’ content in the storyline or quests are soloable. GW2, same thing never raided, never did a single dungeon and I get by just fine with crafting legendary gear/weapons.

you cant post in those forums without an active sub, unless they changed that

They do eventually get moved to the Off Topic forums if thats any consolation.

I guess you could make use of the Mute button. Then at least you wouldn’t see them again on the front page.

It depends what you are looking for.

PVP: WoW is not doing too well there.

PVE: I heard FFXIV has a better lvling and questing experience but WOW has the better dungeon and raid content.

RP: WoW no question, unless you enjoy MG Goldshire rp then try FFXIV.

I respectfully disagree. Just finished ARR (it was an awful slog) and found the story dull, quests uninspired, world visually unappealing and stale, combat and dungeons boring. I’m hanging on until EW because the later xpacs are supposed to be great, but the fact the world is instanced not seamless is a big let down. And again, the level design is very poor. Compare the Limsa place to Boralus. It is terribly bland, no clutter, there are invisible walls everywhere, everything looks like it was built by people who never played an MMO before.

One mark against FFXIV is that it doesn’t have a system like mythic + for its dungeons. Usually there is just a normal and hardmode, if I recall correctly. Other than that, it has raids and a better story (although the fact that the main characters never age is kind of weird, if you can get around that).

Artistically, the world is more realistic than WoW’s (the latter having a more cartoony feel), and the classes (or “jobs” in FFXIV") have much flashier effects to them while having a slightly slower gameplay.

It has plenty of minigames and even a “theme-park” (Gold Saucer) inside the game where you can play…games lol.

Personally, I consider the lack of M+ a plus. E-sports tend only to attract toxic players…see WoW for a great example. What FFXIV has for dungeons is generally just one mode. Some places will have a (Hard) version, but it’s usually not just the original dungeon made harder, but rather taking a different path, and involving different bosses and story elements altogether. Where it does have two levels are in the Trials and Raids, which have “Savage/Extreme” versions of the fights alongside the normal ones.

The characters not aging thing isn’t as weird as it seems, either. The story is only taking place so far over a few years, and the two youngest characters from the main group (twin brother/sister) are elves, meaning they age more slowly than everyone else, anyway.

I don’t follow the MDI and just enjoy the fact that you can adjust the difficulty of the dungeons through mythic +. It has a higher skill ceiling than FFXIV’s dungeons, if I’m being honest.
