Is enchanting expensive to level in classic? I like the idea of it since it would allow me to make gold and meet players outside of my friends and guild.
Does it help you while leveling? Or is enchanting really only worth it if you go tailoring as well.

It can be expensive, yes, but it also makes a lot of money in the long run and is awesome for enhancing your leveling gear. Pairing it with Tailoring is a solid way to self-make stuff to disenchant too.

if your a clothy enchanting is the brother to tailoring so not waste atall. all crafting is expencive so if your working on any of them while lvling up dont expect your mount at the lvl you can get it but thats no biggie anyway.

1-2 per guild only needed… but have a level 5 alt for DE’ing everything for mats and gold

Enchanting is probably the most lucrative profession in the game (other than just getting mats and selling them) because you could make something that’s good for everyone. Leatherworking is only good for rogues, druids, etc. Smithing only good for warriors, pallys, etc. Engineering is limited to only making excellent stuff for other people with high level engineering. Enchanting has something very good for everyone therefore you can always expect income. That and herbalism, but in my experience I found enchanting more of a cash cow (until Naxx…).

But what if you don’t wear cloth. Like would it still be worth it on a warrior or shaman?
Since it’s the only crafting profession that doesn’t need an accompanying gathering skill, yeah. Tailors can make bags too which is both helpful and profitable.
Still a solid choice. You could pair it with a gathering profession to sell the mats you gather or use the money you make from enchanting to fund a crafting profession.
Enchanting is how you make Heirloom gear in this era

Enchanting is okay, but being a disenchanter is fantastic!
Seriously, there is a huge difference
Can you really manage to level it as a casual player though? I always felt Enchanting was a huge gold sink unless you had a guild feeding you greens.
Gold sink unless you had a sugar-daddy capped toon or a guild to feed you.
But yes, massively profitable once you got them up there.
Skinning always seems a good alternative. Easy to grab as you go. But I think I’d struggle with greens if I didn’t have tailoring. Or I guess I could just dungeon spam and horde all the greens lol
Even without the raid and world boss recipes? Casual remember.
Always mining and herbalisim for leveling and then drop one for engineering when you hit 60 since its required
Remember there where no enchanting vellums in Classic, every class benefits from getting it for themselves, or you had to find someone with enchanting and open a trade window with them…
That’s what I actually liked. The people seeking you out for enchanting and meeting people.
It can be expensive but doesn’t have to be if you gather your own mats and tailoring isn’t needed at all just helps you obtain mats faster. I prefer to have enchanting while I level because then I can disenchant my outdated gear and quest rewards along the way. You can just have an alt for disenchanting but then you lose out on disenchanting your souldbound gear. Going to be a lot easier to farm large brilliant shards if its on a higher level toon which will make tons of gold.

If you’re the first or one of the first with Crusader or Spell power, you’ll make plenty. Otherwise no, you’re better off with a level 5 disenchanting bank alt to send mats to your main, who then goes to the guild enchanter and gets it done for free.

As I understand, Engineering has some good PvP items as well. I never tried using it as a PvP player, so I wasn’t aware people were doing that until much later.
