Is dispelling World Buffs now bannable?

He even received an IRL perk of a free sub to his twitch channel for doing so. There is more of a case of RMT (trading the ban for a sub worth $) in regards to the GM than there is for this guy getting banned for dispelling

targetted griefing streamers(or anyone else) is a bannable offense, rarely enforced but it is in fact against TOS. randomly dispelling somebody who happens to be a streamer is fine.

similarly, you wouldn’t like somebody to add your chars to their friend list on an opposite faction and stalk you, its weird.

“hey LordViho, you wanna ban someone for griefing?”
Amazing how things work at Blizzard now, even private server were not as corrupt as this.

“Is dispelling the main tank considered griefing? Oh it is? GG” Rofl what a turd. PVP happened, get over it.

In exchange for a free channel sub too. Sounds like bribery to me.

Almost sounds like real money trading exchanging real money(sub) for in-game benefits(GM banning someone he wants). Pretty sure this is probably against multiple staff rules I really hope this gets escalated to so someone higher at Blizzard to deal with we can’t be having corrupt GMs running around banning anyone their favorite streamers want.

hhaha apparently the streamer deleted his acc. on reddit already, because the subreddit is not amused.

They also seem to report him for violating some twitch ToS in the hopes of killing his acc. Serves him right, hopefully his streamer days are over.

I have less of a problem with the streamer asking, but I have a problem with the GM actually following through with the request. Players can ask for silly things all the time (look at these forums), but it is up to the GMs to follow and enforce policy.

That being said, if he had a reasonable expectation that his GM buddy would follow-through, then this probably wasn’t the first time he has made such a request
just the first time he’s done it on camera. I don’t have much remorse for him being called out on his behavior
but I don’t know if just asking for something dumb should be enough to have accounts deleted.

Hello, please provide evidence of this supposed tos violation.

The most in depth article related to this situation that I could find is this:

There is another vague one about stream sniping, but it mentions nothing of what you claim. Where are you getting this information from?

EDIT for clarity:
the first post contains this information

Keep being ganked and can’t play the game at all

The Game Master staff will not intervene in Player versus Player (PvP) disputes.

If you do not wish to engage in regular PvP combat in WoW Classic, you must create your character on a Player versus Environment (PvE) realm. On a PvE realm, you can freely choose when you want to engage in open world PvP combat by enabling or disabling your PvP flag.

100% absolutely this. It’s not the first time he uses streamer privilege and god knows how many innocent players have been targeted by “friend” GMs.

If you chose to create your character on a PvP realm, Game Masters will not address situations where you are repeatedly killed by the opposite faction. This includes situations that may be considered dishonorable such as corpse camping or killing players well below your level.

You cannot transfer from a PvE realm to a PvP realm. Transfers from PvP to PvE are permitted. Game Masters do not provide realm transfers.

For people who don’t want to click on a link. Basically it says if you don’t want other players to mess with you, don’t roll on a PvP server.

First off: Its the GMs fault first and foremost for stooping to this abuse of his powers. So he is mostly to blame

The streamer did not help either though. He insisted on being targeted specificially, which he had zero proof for and instead of just chuckling over it like any normal person should, who isn’t going for some insane new world record speedrun after weeks of preperation, he also had zero issues with the punishment itself. Apparently he also defended the action on reddit. (though i have not checked the conversations myself).

So ye screw him and the streamer privileges

Honestly the only way I can see Blizzard saving face here is by firing the GM in question and then banning the streamer.

I don’t necessarily disagree. 100% agree with the GM though. 100% unacceptable.

Streamer was being super scummy
asking for personal favors and what-not. He should be held accountable for his scumminess for sure, but I am less sure if he did anything actually ban-worthy. He should be 100% blacklisted from any server he touches
but simply asking for something scummy I don’t think is bannable.

Either way though, I don’t have much sympathy for the streamer.

Anyone who kills me in warsong is griefing me and i want them banned blizzard. I will throw in a sub to whatever streamer of your choice, thanks in advance.

I disagree - I don’t think any action should be taken against the streamer. In my opinion, the GM is like 99% at fault here. Anyone can ask for a ban, especially in the heat of the moment when they are upset at someone for dispelling them, but it is the GM who is an employee and should be following some sort of ethics and clear guidelines for investigating and following up on bans like this that is responsible.

The streamer or any player can ask for whatever they want. What happens after that is pretty much the responsibility of the GM(s) that respond to it. Bad call to ask for it? Yea probably, but I don’t think it deserves any kind of in game action like a ban or whatnot.

Not ingame, but the community already ousted him on reddit and apparently he violated some twitch ToS. An ingame ban for the streamer should not be issued

This is where I fall too. Anyone can ask for anything
no matter how stupid. It was up to the GM to follow procedure.

Now if the gifted sub was implied as part of the banning, THEN I can see a good argument for trying to bribe a GM. And that could be bannable. That might be harder to prove though. It could have just been a “thank you” which is still pretty disgusting
but not bribery.

He has absolutely 0 proof that he was specifically targeted.

Personally I could care less that someone whose sole purpose playing the game is to try and ruin it for others got a ban. Maybe you’ll think before you spend all your time griefing others incessantly instead of just playing the game. I mean it would be one thing if it was a ganker, you know, pvping. sure. But if you play the game just to dispel others for laughs I dont feel anything but contempt for you and hope you stay away after your deserve ban. QQ more
