I’ve gotten pretty good with dropping an ice wall on myself where I’m contained inside and am able to capture a base without being attacked from either side. This seems to be on the fence. On one hand, I don’t believe this was how Ice Wall was intended to be used. On the other hand, you could make the case I’m just “playing to the limits of the game”.
Does anyone know if you could get a ban for this? I don’t want to engage in cheating, but I also don’t want to leave a highly effective tool sitting on the table.

I doubt you’d get banned for this any more than a monk slowfalling with chi torpedo for flag caps would, but both probably need to be fixed.

The monk thing is actually using their new talent Ride the Wind while doing chi torpedo and Mistweavers in particular and resetting the cd with thunder focus tea so they can effectively fly across the map.
I’ve seen them fast cap BS in AB with this as well as get to the opposite base in EotS before the other team can even make the initial cap.
It’s effectively the modern version of slowfall dragon stomp, which was eventually deemed problematic
fixable, but not bannable

it needs to be a destructible wall in bgs.
you can be attacked from one side always. it just sometimes makes it look like you are more on one side than the other. which tricks some players into going to the wrong side

Nope that’s not true. You can absolutely drop the wall on top of yourself where you are inside the wall and unattackable from both sides.

Pretty sure it is targetable and destructible.
It is, it has 40% of the HP that the mage has.

Yeah I thought it scaled with HP, they don’t die fast but they will die.
It’s a fun tricksy ability I don’t want to see it nerfed, but being able to use it as a sorta iceblock seems like cheese.
Yeah, it does, the zone you have to drop it on yourself is incredibly precise.
It isn’t a @player macro area, you have to place it by hand, I’ve only managed to do it a couple of times on my mage.
Also, while not useful for this discussion, if the mage is on your team, if you attack it, it’s destroyed almost instantly.
Oh wow it dies so slowly its negligible but I’m sure happy to have the info so I don’t sound too uninformed LOL (never played a mage never will!).
tbh ty for the information. Now im wondering if the issue is just that the hp needs to be like 10% -30% because at the upper ranks that thing is being dropped perfectly. had multiple mages just use the cap speed and that wall for ezgg and on storm its even worse. No time to destroy it and hit the mage before a flag is gone.
seems like creative use of game mechanics combined with a skill element, so not an exploit. if it gets to be a problem blizz will fix the spell or something.

All movement abilities shouldn’t work with the flag. That’s how you fix that.
How?
You’re getting kicked away if you’re trying to do that.
Zew is talking out of their rear end.
Ride the Wind is a Windwalker PvP talent, it doesn’t affect the monk, but their allies…
It’s essentially a budget version of stampeding roar. It also doesn’t affect mounted speed.
Thunderous Focus Tea is a Mistweaver PvP talent, which, if used correctly, does let you use Chi Torpedo 6 times, instead of 2.
It might allow you to get across the bridge in EotS before the enemy can get to their flag.
I’ll have to test it out in an EotS, but testing it in Dornogal, a mounted player should still be in range to stop the cap if they aren’t taking the scenic route.
But in WSG and TP, the flag debuff Brutal Assault essentially negates Chi Torpedo completely. You can press Chi Torpedo, but it doesn’t go anywhere.
Whoops, I meant the new talent, Lighter Than Air.
I don’t hardly ever play monk so I didn’t remember what it was called off the top of my head. But you can spam that with chi torpedo and thunder tea to basically fly across a map. It’s very impressive.
It’s tricky and I went out in the open world to practice a bit, but I basically drop the wall slightly to my side, it then bounces you around but if you placed it right on top of you it won’t actually kick you out. Then you can actually walk around inside the wall and exit through either side of your choosing. Pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
Cant get banned for using something in the game as it was intended. people said the same thing about smoke bomb capping

The chances of it being changed to not work are low, the chances of bans for the practice are far lower. Use at your own very low risk. But good on you for letting the Devs know. If you want a blizzard employee to actually know, use @wowdevs on twitter and tell them there.
Frost wall interactions need to be looked at. I love the ability but I don’t think you should be able to interact from the other side of it as I see often. I have not witnessed someone INSIDE of it yet, LOL.
