Boosting exists because it makes bliz money.
Bliz could easily cap IL at w/e mmr bracket your Qing in, but boosts would probably still exist.
Does the majority of players actually see boosters as a problem?
I can only speak for rbgs but if you can get a group of players actively pushing rating and looking to correct mistakes, you will beat boosters.
Imo idgaf about boosters. Hearing my team complain when we play against a booster team, or just a better geared team makes me cringe. If I’m actually trying to push rating and I hear that bs I know it’s time to find a new team.

Boosters pervert the nature of competitive PvP. If you are pushing rating they should make you cringe. They should make you furious. You are working your tail off to get your rating while some other kid is just swiping his credit card to get what you’ve earned. And these days, there isn’t even a way to tell who is doing the boosting. I miss the days where you had to register your arena teams so if you were boosting it was incredibly obvious.

I’m not sure if blizzard is making money off boosters. I think boosters are making money off boosters.
I think blizzard is ignoring the easiest ways for them to make money, which is character customization which has nothing to do with performance.
Think of all the players who have spent money on faction changes, mounts, pets, etc and then times that all by 10 dollars for X character change. Exotic hair color, style, exotic clothing dye, etc etc, the list literally goes on and on. And then you see where blizzard is just a huge company failure.
They need to increase revenue stream so they can increase their customer satisfaction and hire new designers to help them.
People paying to gear don’t bother me because they haven’t actually won anything. They simply hit the skip content wow token. My rating achievements dont feel any less valuable because I know I earned them. I understand your point and think it’s a valid complaint. For me though paying to skip content is silly and not something I could ever see bothering me. I think the real issue is people who think boosters are preventing them from achieving their desired rating.

if anything boosters prove that the rating system does not measure skill at pvp, only skill at gaming the MMR system. of course this isn’t new, this has been going on as long as we have tried using rating systems and its not unique to wow.

boosters are a cancer on the ladder and need to be excised.
There’s no way blizzard isn’t making money off boosters…
They used to ban both booster and boostee in BC. That practice is no longer followed.
As seen in masses on this forum, most people do not like boosting. Whether it directly impacts game play or not, most don’t want it to happen, regardless.
That leaves pretty clear evidence Blizz must have some sort of metric that shows the token sales from boosts done within the ToS are worth the negative reception from those against it.
We all KNOW blizz LOVES to add time sinks… so the alternative option of blizz allowing boosting just “for fun” to please the demographic that wants a boost doesn’t make sense… they are making money off boosting and have been for a long time. If they weren’t making money from it, they would force those who want a boost to earn it through time played.
It’s obvious if you think about it. Boosting is a cancer, as stated here already.
Since lots of PvPers have left the game, it’s hard to say what the majority is at this point. I’d say the majority of those who do PvP think boosting and changes that led to it are destroying PvP.
Even real money carries increase token sales by normalizing paid carries as a legitimate method for gearing, and maybe the preferred one.
It’s quite simple. Any team that’s worthy of a rating milestone will eventually achieve it just by playing.
But you can’t deny facing giant item level gaps is miserable for players that can’t achieve that milestone or can barely reach it.
Even if people didn’t boost, some of the best players would probably queue at those MMRs anyway just to be able to play the game. The only difference being people making gold.

False. Teams that are overwhelmed by better geared teams that are boosting will win far less than if they were matched against others at their gear and skill level.
What do flat stats have to do with objective?
Why don’t you go and experience rated gameplay yourself?
You’re saying ‘False’ just because…?
why are there level 50s arguing about arena, yall cant even queue go level and then talk
I don’t care that people boost, personally. I like playing better players than me, it’s where you learn how to get better at the game. Theoretically any team can beat any team if you’re playing the game correctly. Boosting isn’t cheating, they’re a group of people who are playing with the handicap of carrying unskilled/under geared players, but are good enough at their class/the content to compensate. Every person who has queued into a boost team does so with a fair percentage chance of winning the match if all 10 people on their team play well.
So in my opinion, if I queue against a team with 1-5 carries and lose, it’s my fault for not being the better player (or my team’s fault, whatever). Beyond that, people mislabel people for boosting all the time, and most of the time it’s coming from people at MMR’s that boosters aren’t even playing in. But even if you’re at an MMR where boosters are common, the one loss from a boosting team you might encounter every so many games isn’t going to make any difference to you if your team deserves to climb.
Basically you win a few matches, get placed way above your CR/gear until you finally lose a match, you take 0 rating loss for a game or two then you’re back around your CR in MMR and win a few more, rinse and repeat. It’s fine.
(Aciddently replied to you instead of OP Dora, if you’re wondering why I have a removed reply you’re linked to lol)
Boosters are ruining the game for other PvPers.
Facing bis geared glads/r1s at a low MMR isn’t much of a competition.
It’s demoralizing, especially for people who are kinda new to rated PvP and they’re just trying to push some rating.

they are, but they don’t understand they are playing with fire and will get burned by this. blizzard is tarnishing their rep in the game industry, most players consider pay2win to be the death of a game and the sign that a company should be boycotted. think gamers won’t? i still don’t own crysis3 because if EA’s origin, in fact i haven’t paid for an EA game since they pulled their games from steam and required origin. they are blacklisted forever in my head.
what the devs don’t understand is that once you cross the wrong line in the player’s heads, they no longer root for the dev’s success, but instead root and push for their failure. once past that line, it takes significantly more energy and effort to get back to a place of respect in the player’s minds than it did to let them down.

Should maybe consider making it so you cannot play further than 1 level below your highest tier.
Like once 2400 you cannot play below 2100.
Once above 1800 cannot play below 1600 mmr.
Just an idea?

It’s really a simple answer. Yes.
