Is blood dk really that bad

The belief you think that DK is behind VDH as a tank is silly.
Let alone there are many situations in which DK is superior to Paladin, Warrior, or Brewmaster for that matter.
Same for the other three in reference to other tanks.
This is why DK is in a good spot.
Every tank can be used in all situations.
The top 4 tanks have situations where they are better than others.

I have my reason to believe blood is behind vdh, to be more specific look at raider .io 20+ section.
Situation? High end content only included M+ and mythic raiding, in which brewmaster, warrior have dominated since 8.1. If you’re talking about open world then you have a point.
This, now this belief you think DK is in good spot is actually silly now.
In conclusion, my argument is based on high-end gameplay level. If you want to discuss all tank specs in general, then they’re all the same.

If we’re talking the tip top end?
Warrior for M+
Brewmaster for Mythic raiding.

Warrior gives high damage and the highest mitigation.
Brewmaster mitigation ability just makes them insanely good for all progression.

On the other hand, just because those two dominate does not mean DK is bad or awful.
It just means its not the best for that specific part of the content.
Can DK do the same stuff as BM/Warrior? Yes.
Is it the best for it? No.
Does this make it awful/bad? No.

Back when DK was dominating Legion mythics, the other tanks weren’t as good, but they were still good and very much valuable.

You know what was awful?
Bear before the buffs.

Your stance of DK being awful, doesn’t appear to be a fair evaluation of it.

Let me go straight with it.
You said prot war give big dps and highest mitigation? Brewmaster monk has extremely good mitigation, right? (actually brm also give extremely high dps with CnS)
Now with “tankiness” level, both dk and bears are really bad. They are “healing” tank, not mitigation tank. They take too much damage from all sources, and their toolkits are not great to deal with it. The current meta indeed favour mitigation tank. Plus a nerf in 8.1 really put blood to the bottom since they almost took away their potential.
With dps meter, dk has the worst dps output, only behind vdh. VDH actually has a good dps potential, but they sometimes sacrifice it for another build that make them extremely tanky, even in the same stage with prot war and brm. With blood, you can’t. Whatever you want to do, blood do the same amount of dps, the worst of 6 tank specs.
Now they’re one of two most squishy tank spec unlike in the past (which their tankiness is the only reason people bring them to m+), they do the worst dps, they’re not suitable to the meta. Which tier that you want to list them in?
And no, my stance about dk as a whole is extremely positive. I main a dk, our main M+ tank is a blood, our main raid tank is also a blood, my offspec again is a blood dk. All of my arguments is based on my own experience, people’s opinions and from the figures in wlogs, raider. io,…

So, very tank outside of BM and Warrior is bad.
Simply because warriors are preferred for M+, and Monks for raiding.
That is rather flawed. Simply because those two are the best, does not mean the other are awful either.
Logs for tanks is a trickier matter because while their damage output is meaningful, ultimately what matters is their survival, of which BM, DK. Wareior, and paladin are interchangeable.

Naturally Monk Bm dominates because their tank mechanic is pretty busted, so its ideal for progression, same for wareior in M+ woth their damage and cds. We have, however, seen success in progression and high M+ with high success, where others struggle to survive such as bear last season.

Mind you, I agree Monk and War are above the others, but not so much that DK or Pally would be bad by comparison.

I didn’t said tank outside of BrM and prot is bad. The point is blood currently perform badly in almost every situation. The only good thing about them is their utility kit is quite interesting, especially for m+ enviroment. High end blood players, for example Vayra can execute blood at its finest, showing blood still can compete in high end content, but with the current stage making it not hard, but extremely hard to progress. So come to the question, why should we bring DK to keys or raid? Figures has already shown they’re the worst tank spec in the current meta.
Here is how i rated them: BrM>Prot Warrior>Prot Pally>VDH>=GDruid>=Blood DK.

Their self sustainability is decent, their mobility and lack of utility ranks them D Tier in my list.

After very useful abilities such as Tremble Before Me and Vampiric Aura was gutted; renders them only useful for solo content.

Blood Death Knights also have numerous blind spots when it comes to picking up adds.

Azerite traits outside of the RNG heavy Bloodied Runeblade.
Heart strike is rendered useless after Legion; due only reducing the movement speed by 20% (Used to be 50%)

Before the nerf to threat, Blood Death Knight used to hold groups by applying dots, while most classes having their damage over time effects scale by haste, Blood Death Knights receive a laughable talent no one dares to touch.

As for the Talent system, one out of 3 talent abilities are rendered useful.

Unlike most class specs Blood Death Knights only have one core mechanic play style. (They are viable but very RNG heavy.)

Unless you are with a very understanding group, I would not touch a Blood Death Knights. If I wish to go around tolerating the annoying global cooldowns and spamming the same abilities over and over just to keep threat, I would just use a Guardian Druid instead.

The devs could simply just fix these mechanics by redesigning those useless talents as well as turning bonestorm into easily exploited group survival cooldown to a 10 or 15 second cooldown core rotation talent, and actually giving them gap closer or at least give them the option to remove the taunt for an exchange of a second charge and lower cooldown to Death Grip.

In the Legion beta there was an ability call Blood Bolt which replaces Death Caress but it was scrapped, an ability like such could have been really useful for picking up patrolling adds.

I’ve tanked with others tanks but a Guardian Druid this expansion and compared to all of them Blood Death Knights do not have the same feeling when utilizing their rotation.

For now Blood Death Knights are Kotal Kahn bad, not only that the spec itself has an identity crisis and impossible for one to immerse themselves in but the Talents System have absolutely no choices and the Azerite system are the least exciting I’ve ever seen.

It’s not game changing like Subtlety Rogues or Feral Druids. All of the traits excluding Bloodied Runeblade are boring.
