Hey I usually play tanks and I was wondering how are blood death knights? I haven’t played one since mid Wotlk, I know they aren’t great right now but are they really like “paper” like everyone says… I do pug a lot so I feel they would be a good choice… Right now its between Blood Dk or Ele shaman

You know… I have one, and it just feels like Death Strikes don’t hit as hard anymore. Also, we don’t use blood drinker talent anymore… just seems kinda meh.

No. Their hp is spikey of course but that’s just BDK.

Working fine for me, not that geared yet but no issues in up to +7 Mythics so far

It must be me then… they feel just a bit weaker before, but maybe I’am doing something wrong.

They have less passive nitigation through their armor but they remain top 4 tanks.
You can do all content in the game with them even the highest keys.

Cause if your healer fails you still have a chance to carry the group (sometimes).
I enjoy BDKs, running +15 keys without much issue. In mythic raiding it’s obviously not the best, but can still work (except Orgozoa.).
Heres how BDK really works from the standpoint of someone that plays on mythic and +20 difficulty.
If you at or slitghly higher ilvl for the content youre doing youre golden, healer probaly wont even have to put much effort healing you.
If youre still undergeared youre going to have a super bad time compared to a warrior that pretty much takes no damage. Youre gonna struggle, your healer gonna struggle and you will probably fail.
As an example if you try running a +20 as a blood dk at 440 ilvl youre fu cked, while a warrior or pally can easily make their way thru it simply caus ethey take less damage.

It depends on the content. At low levels of content and even up to upper-mid tier content up to around 15 keys, The spec won’t really matter as much as the skill of the person playing it, and I suggest playing the tank you like the most. Only at the top tier high end content (16+ and world early mythics) does spec start to matter, and it becomes a flavor of the month/season thing. This tier has Warriors as the best mythic+ tanks, and Monks as the best Mythic raid tanks. Last season BDKs were all over the place. Next season we may see druids or something. And in most cases, if you are in a situation where class matters, your guild/group will let you know.
tl;dr, unless you aim to be the top 5% of players, just play whatever you like the best.

People were crying so hard on the forums and twitch was really crapping their pants. Jdot or something like that even wrote an article about it for a site called MMORPG or something. But this cry baby hairy chested freak he was so mad that BDKs were just destroying it in Mythics. I mean he was 100% destroyed, he would endlessly talk about how he told him mom, dad and the FBI about BDKs. Just talk, talk, talk, talk he needed the universe to see his tears - It WAS weird. That is when they were nerfed. Jdot did not get his participation trophy, he needed equality, he needed the game to meet his standards and only his opinion had to count and oh boy did it.
**Jdot is some top mythic player. Hes on twitch, has a nice chest. Used to play with that DH Shak - remember? He was really good just more emotionally sensitive than a 5 yr old having her toes stepped on by an elephant.

And yet you don’t see anyone writing articles now that prot warriors and brewmasters are dominating high keys. Nobody is causing a riot now that prot warriors make up the vast majority of tanks in the MDI. Brewmasters look like they start to shine in really high keys (+20 and above) but don’t have the same offensive capability as warriors.
As much as I hate to say it right around now is a good time to start looking at gearing another tank for the next patch. I’m not sure how this level of incompetence from Blizzard has gone on for so long. They can’t even figure out arcane mages. Buffed them by 6%. Community told them arcane would still be trash. crickets from Blizzard. 8.2.5 rolls around. Big surprise they still suck. Ok lets give them another 8%. What? You guys could not figure this out months ago but somehow the community knew they would still be trash?

I’ll always main my blood DK. If it ends up being bottom tier next season / expansion, then so be it lol I’ll still find ways to make it work (maybe)

They arent really that bad overall, they may take more damage than other tanks with the lack of a million defensive cds, but the self healing and increased hp pool makes up for it most of the time.
