Is Blizzard really gatetiming the anniversary event?

We need time gates because people with compulsion issues would forget about their 7 children and 25 jobs if left with no limitations.

If I had 7 kids and 25 jobs I’d wanna forget them too

(Also only joking, I do agree with your point)

While I wish they would just do something like adding the remade t2 sets as drops in the classic raids so there would be no fomo with them.

The real problem is likely going to be the rng/grind to get all the BRD raid drops.

So, where is this event?

I keep seeing complaints/critiques, but I haven’t seen any event.

Do I have to go to the Capital city to trigger something, or talk to an NPC?

Its next week, 22nd.

Sure, but that’s not really the point. The death thing is just one extreme anecdote.

Rather the point of “protect people from themselves” is that their have been multiple studies that show people are more likely to quit games that doesn’t have “breaks”. So to speak. Your dopamine centers get saturated and you get bored. Hence why things like log-in bonuses and daily quests are so common in mobile games.

“Fun detected” is a meme for a reason, because “fun” isn’t good for business. But small manipulative carrot-on-a-stick dopamine rewards are good for business. Ultimately that’s all that matters to Blizzard.

What ever happened to letting people play their own way? All this timegating bullsheet is just another way for them to pad their time played metrics so some MBA clown can gleefully show them to daddy shareholder.

By that logic, it makes more sense to let people grind it all out at once if they want to they can take their extended break lol.

i really hate time gates.

If people have time to play alot now, let them play and enjoy everything

so many mobile games do this, diablo immortal startedt his practice with a “server” paragon level limit and you “could” play more over the server limit but you got alot less xps and each level you were over the limit the worse it was…

clash of clans does this in the mini events - they start out slow in the beginning but at the end of the mini event its alot more of reward.

I guess it works for mobile games that dont have much content so maybe thats why wow is doing it too

It won’t take you more than 3, maybe 4, weeks get all the sets.

People complained endlessly about sweats and tryhards getting stuff so fast and leaving everyone “behind.” Forever. Other people also complained that they slopped up 4 months worth of content in 2 weeks. So they started timegating more things, and now people think blizzard is evil for it and not listening to the community? Incredible

Usually when people whine about time gating it is quite clear they have no clue what they are talking about.

Combine that with the Mythic+ grind on a few toons and there’s no time for a reasonable person to do all of these things. And I don’t even raid or PVP

this is Blizzard we are talking about, is it truly that surprising that they would situation it in such a way that you probably have to play the event for a majority of it to get everything.

they cant have you just enjoy it for a few days and get all the prizes. think of the time played metrics man!

I’m a degenerate in rl…ggg?

i agree i should be able to get everything in a day and then complain on the forums that the event doesn’t have enough to do and i’m bored

I dont care about sweats and tryhards eating the game up at an accelerated pace and “leaving me in the dust”. I like to enjoy the game at my pace, not at a tryhards pace and certainly not at Blizzards pace. One is too gogogogogo for me and the other is trying to milk as much as my lifespan as possible.

Current Blizzard game design is to highly restrict and drip feed everything for the sake of time played metric.

Ever come back to Wow mid tier or end of tier. Majority of the patch is done in a couple hours max. Then it just gear dungeon/raid grind…

I think someone misunderstood something about the currency acquisition and people are parroting it like the morons they are. Im seeing a minimum acquisition of at least 60 a week just from quests. How dumb can you be to not count.
